Blueberry Grow - 1200 watt - 67 watt per foot

Before we begin lets start with some information:

System:

I will be using a Deep Water Culture (DWC) System. There are 6, 5 gallon buckets. 5 planters, 1 control. The res is a 55 gal steel drum. i painted rust-olium and layered it with drum liners.

I have a 396gph pump, pump to the buckets on a relay and i have a 396gph pump, pump back to the res. i am flushing the system every 4 hours while the lights are on (9pm-3pm)

i have 5" round air stones sitting in every bucket

last grow i broke down and bough a 1/5hp water chiller, and i keep my water at 63 degrees. i have a 396gph pump, pumping thru the chiller

Room:

I will be growing in a basement storage closet it is 9'L 2'W 9'H

Nutes:

I have GH nutes
-micro
-bloom
-i plan on using Azamax
-Cal-Mag
-Aqua Shield

Lights & Ballast:

I have 2 Yield Master 2 Supreme 6" hoods with Hortilux super HPS Bulbs

Also have 2 600 Watt Quantum Digital Dimmable Ballast. they have 3 power settings
-50%=300 watts
-75%=450 watts
-100%=600 watts

Ventilation:

I have a 180cfm 8" inline fan moving thru my lights
I have a 180cfm Blower moving air thru my DIY Carbon Filter

Thanks for the encouragement cheese101!
-I started with clones a friend on RIU gave me. the clones are a mixture of blueberry(indica) and brainstorm(sativa). he had got the seeds from attitude seed bank and he had given me 3rd generation clones.

today i topped one of my larger plants

I am noticing some deficiency in my girls
-does anyone know what deficiency this looks like?

-those brown spots look like a magnesium deficiency. i probably need to add another 5ml to the res, but im going to wait a few days before i do, because the clones are still young and the roots are just popping out of the net pot lids.

-but i dont know what those little grey dots are. they were on my last grow when i had PH problems

11/17/2009 update:


The plant that i topped is starting to produce a new top.

the roots are growing crazy fast!!!

I have both fans on low

I also added another 5ml/gallon of cal-mag to the water because there seemed to be a calcium deficiency.


Stay Tuned, Those plants are going to get huge.

I debating on when i should turn the light to 12/12. i want the plants to be a max height of 6' or do. i can only take the lights up to 7'...

on some of the pictures the plants have deformities, im pretty sure that has something to do with genetics?

i took a ounce of my water cured harvest from my previous grow and i packed it into cigarette blanks with a cigarette packer...
the cool thing is. the cigarette doesnt smell like pot nor does the smoke smell like pot.
the perfect stealth joint for smoking in the car


hypothetical situation:

i could pack 20 and fill a cigarette box and sell the box. for x number of $. so people don't question the color or smell, lol hypothetically speaking

Im looking to get a new Fan!

this fan is pulling thru 2sq.ft of 2-3"s of carbon (so there will be some static pressure)

I needs to be stealth and fit a 6" duct.

I was looking at the Vortex PowerFan 449 CFM - 49 dBA
*How well so they work under static???

Is there anyone who has a recommendation of fan for my situation?

i have family coming in this Friday.... i bought a 6" vortex Fan last Friday (hopefully i can install it before family comes in.)

I Flushed the System and Started Flowering.


Found out that all the brainstorm clones are boys. so im waiting till i can sex the plant, so i can cut down those dudes.

i had to pull two plants out last night because they were dudes..... so its looking a little skimpy in the room, for a while!!!!


the family is coming in on friday and my fan comes in on friday..... i could have planned that better!!!

haven't really had time to journal lately, but let me sum up whats been happening...i shut the door to the room for 4 days because family was in town. but when i did look at them after 4 days, IT WAS CRAZY HOW BIG THEY GOT.

my 6" vortex fan came, i haven't gotten a fan speed controller yet, and i ran out of GH bloom nutes this week, i could only put half strength in the res when i changed it yesterday. So i really need to run down to the hydro shop this week.

I also have finals this week, lots to do!

after loosing those 2 dudes in the crop, my 3 girls filled in quite nicely

The girls are in 15 days(2 week, 1 day) of flowering!

I got the vortex fan installed, WOW that thing works great!!!

Went to the hydro store and got some more nutes, decided to go with 2.5 gallon containers, also picked up a variable fan speed controller.

I have the fan on medium and the static pressure is .2 inches of water, full speed is .3 inches of water.

the girls are doing great! today is 3weeks 2days

in that last batch of pictures the light did look a little close.

i try to keep the tops 7"- 10" from the lights.

Haven't updated in a while i've been busy. but the girls have been growing

This friday(1/8/10) will be 6 weeks(39 days).

Today I bought Some seeds from Attitude Seed Bank
I went with a Serious Seed: Kali Mist...

And i hear its some killer bud!!!

Everything is going according to plan. **knock on wood**

let me know how im doing?

the leaves are a little brittal what is this a sign of?
but im betting that is just how blueberry gets when it 6 week flower.

Looking very good! Hope mine grows that well. Are you having any heat problems now with the new fan and tall plants?

In the winter with the lights on it gets around 73, off gets around 60

In the summer with the lights on it get around 89, off get around 73

The new fan helps with the odor control and keeps the room under negative pressure which is critical.

Still no package from attitude. I'm guessing it will be here on Friday

Yesterday it was smelling a little strong in my basement so i was going to check on the fans and they wernt runnning!!! i guess when the buckets were empty the breaker tripped! so the plants were sitting in a dry bucket for 5 hours.. the plants didn't show any sign of no water, so were allllll good...

i think im going to plan to flower on week 9

this friday will be week 7......

on week 8 im going to flush then chop on week 9.
but i need to see what they will look like on week 8. i hope the get a lot thicker!

BUT they are smelling Fucking Awesome!
