Is it bad that I want to go to war?

war, no matter the reason or the actors, is the worst of humanity.
why one would eagerly pursue any involvement in war I cannot understand.
must be the foolishness of youth.
and yeah.
go marine corps 0311 or 0331 (heavy machine gunner).
you will be on the bloody tip of the spear.
i suggest you don't. you are right that it will change you forever, however you may not
like what you turn into.
I understand that. I don't think I should be able to support a war that I am not willing to fight in; nor leave other Americans hanging in a war that others are do not support yet do nothing to end.

I am very precise and tactical - I was thinking sniper or some variation of special forces.

if you like sitting in a ditch in the rain for ~2 weeks at a time sure a sniper would be great

That's because to separate urself from the consequences of ur actions, you must disassociate the troops from the homeland.

Telegraphing division from home emboldens the enemy, and costs US soldiers their lives.

If you wanna be a hired killer, the military pays shit.
Apply with the mafia or jealous spouses.
they will pay up to 100k a head.

Tebor.....I believe trtrnr question is one deriving of honor and moral obligation rather than monetary gain which was never presented in his opening remarks or since for that matter.

it doesn't work that way.
Believe it or not, it does.

I dont support or believe in this war, because the whole point of it is for oil and money, but why the hell not support the poor people that chose to fight in it? They deserve just as much respect as if they were in a war that had a real point, because either way they're fighting for our country. Their the bravest of the bravest.

Also, if there ever really is a threat to this country, who are gonna be the ones to take action and fight? The same troops i'm supporting.

whats moral or honorable about acting like Vikings.
Valhalla doesn't exist man.
No Hall of Heroes.

Honor would be respecting our founding fathers wishes.

tebor....
There is great honor in defending your country...Period. Without our modern day "Vikings" Hitler would have crossed continents and we'd all be asking for more Struedal.

There is great "honor" enlisting for the thousands who perished on 9-11.

I find great "honor" in hunting terrorists for my fallen countrymen.

As far as being morally obligated..the op displayed feelings of obligation..please re-read.

I''m sure the last thing that comes to your mind as you inhale that fine smoke is our dying brothers. Just remenber all the things you covet so dearly were fought for by savages who secure that very freedom.

Please correct me if I'm wrong....

Defending your county and offending another are 2 different things.

Please read Brigadier General Smedley Butlers 'War is a Racket'
as relevant today as it was in 1935 when it was published.
Also he is America's most decorated soldier.

an excerpt:
"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."

It hasn't been about defending our country since The War of 1812.
Its about profit.

a person defending their homeland from foreign invaders is not a terrorist.

It was 40+ nations that it took to stop Hitler. Mostly they lost the war because of their failed invasion of Russia in the worst winter they have seen in decades. and Hitler having to clean up Mussolini's mess in Greece. Modern day Vikings actually had little to do with it.

WWII was predicted by many the day the Treaty of Versailles was signed.
Germany won all the major battles of WWI and were winning the war when they surrendered.
If Poland had just given Danzig back to Germany, WWII would have been prevented. Danzig was rightfully Germany's and its citizens were Germans.

Because not supporting the troops at home is KNOWN by our enemies, and gives THEM moral support.

Get it? Didn't think so... that would be too easy, huh.

But that is the REAL way it works.

I can answer that for you already with a great quote,

"There are no atheists in foxholes"
That is the point I am making. How can I be an athiest when the first sign of danger I take my insurance policy out and begin praying to God. If that is the case, shouldn't I start going to church today?

I support the troops, but def not the war
Tell me how you support the troops.

It is a cute catch-phrase; but leaving the people you support to fight a war that you don't - isn't giving much support.

Please cite specific examples of when you have supported the troops.
