There is a need for healthcare reform but this approach is like treating the problem with leeches to suck the blood out of the economy. It is a prescription for bad medicine and should be taken off the shelves immediately.

I want to know what happened to democracy. The vast majority of people don't want this bill. Why are Pelosi and co. still trying to shove it down our throats?

No offense sir, but you must be drinking FOX Kool Aid, but The last polls I saw the people wanted this.

Even Palin this week admitted to running across the border to receive Canada's free health care.

Last night in the ER while waiting on X-rays I spoke to my brother. He, like so many people these days, blame democrats for everything and I lost respect for my brother last night when he said he listens to Glen Beck.

My brother has an autistic son and he has to work 3 jobs (paramedic, Firefighter) to be able to afford insurance enough to just get simple medicine. I argued with him, how could you not support universal health care? I told him he is killing himself to work for medicine that the gov should be providing its people.

Everyone acts like this reform is going to end our country, but if anything, i think it will unify us in the long run if people just open their hearts and minds.

Everyone thinks that this will bankrupt us but remember people that 1/6th of our economy is based on healthcare and insurance. They are crooks that are leeching off of people that can not afford it, for basic service.

we need to change the system and do it now.

oh, and remember people it is a public option not a rule. You DONT HAVE TO USE IT. You can still fondle the balls of your fav insurance company and hope for a payoff, or you can get the treatment you need when you need it.

Ignorant people want to tell you the universal health care is bad, but do the research yourself. Provention medicine is what the will lead too.

i,e, Most people without insurance can not afford to go to a doctor for something. They wait till it is serious and then go to the ER. The ER then gets clogged up with people without insrance who are fucked up for some reason, that if they could have afforded to see a doctor sooner could have prevented the amount of money and time wasted by emergency staff.

If people can get the help they need they will only take it when they need it.

It is a greed complex.

Just like if you took away all money, if there was a way to give everyone what they needed they would not steal or possibly hurt someone to do it.

Like Replicators on Star Trek as an example. These replicators can replicate anything you want. It is all programmed in to the computer and basically materialized in front of you. Total Fiction, but in thier world they have got rid of money, povertry, famine.

Give people what they need and people can and will change. Everyone wants the right to be healthy.

If none of this makes sense you must either be a republican douche, or i must be really stoned still.

how many times must it be said that the government provides nothing for anyone? all that government adds to the situation is force and the threat of violence. it is the people and their tax dollars that fund every government handout designed to do no more than garner the support of the naive for political animals intent on only furthering their own careers. there are no magical fairies to provide free services for the needy and the taxpayer's dime is already stretched far too thin.

Everyone acts like this reform is going to end our country, but if anything, i think it will unify us in the long run if people just open their hearts and minds.
in case you haven't noticed, the people of this country have no problem opening their hearts, their minds, and their pocketbooks. no other nation in history has ever given a higher percentage of its wealth to charitable causes.

of course this laughable attempt at reform isn't going to end the country. it will merely help to further transform it into a nation of slaves, handing the government even more control over our relatively free market and the liberties of the individual.

Everyone thinks that this will bankrupt us but remember people that 1/6th of our economy is based on healthcare and insurance. They are crooks that are leeching off of people that can not afford it, for basic service.
so is profit the sin you are railing against? is it the investment of the people's savings in hopes of some return that you despise? there is no doubt that abuses occur and real reform should address those problems, but government takeovers and welfare state giveaways will certainly do nothing to alleviate that burden. maybe the problem is that you just don't understand that health insurance is no get out of jail free card. it is an investment in the future health of the policy holder and a quick look at the state of social security should be enough to convince anyone how ill advised it is to trust government with our investments.

If people can get the help they need they will only take it when they need it.

just how naive can one person be? first you decry the greed of investors in the insurance industry, then you tout the frugality and honesty of the common man. these are not two separate species, they are all a part of humanity and the greed you find in one will surely surface in the other. have you been living in a closet all your life?

I don't even know where to begin. I am not a republican douche. I am an independent/libertarian douche. Nice attack by the way. None of it makes sense to me because this is one of the most ignorant posts I've ever seen. Where are your links to support your stance that the majority wants this healthcare bill? Because everything I've seen is showing that the vast majority are against it. If you're gonna make claims like these you need to back them up.............and quit drinking the MSNBC kool-aid.:-P

Let's look at some government controlled organizations and programs.

Welfare: It is abused and corrupted. We steal from the rich and give to the poor.

Public Education: My school is one of the best high schools in New York. But half of the kids are failing.

Drug Education: The fact that this site and many other sites like it exist clearly proves how they've failed. I'm definitely not saying that the ideas that they're pushing are good. In fact, the ideas they push are incredibly stupid, I'm a member of this site, after all. But it's still a failure.

Controlling crime: There were two robberies in my area in about 5 years. They only caught one of the guys. Two robberies in five years, in a virtually crime free neighborhood, and one of the guys gets away.

Public Transportation: A young kid fell onto the train tracks in my area. They are supposed to have cameras to look out for things like this so they don't run someone over, but whoever was supposed to keep up with the cameras did not do their job. The kid died.

Fixing damages in the area: A storm just hit my town hard. And I mean hard, like trees crashing through roofs. Huge trees falling down, telephone poles down, telephone wires down on almost every block. Some people still don't have power.

Wow, all based on your experiences living in some town in NY. Best to keep as narrow a perspective as possible

The people want this about as much as the Louisiana Purchase helped with the earthquake in Haiti - which Obama claimed yesterday. Today Obamacare will probably aslo be the solution to global warming, Iran nukes and a rogue comet heading our way.

We overeat and don't exorcise, anyone with a brain would know what the solution is. Obesity is the leading health problem in this country, if people don't want to take care of them-self then I don't want to subsidize their health-care costs. Shit I HATE working out and running but I do it because living a healthy lifestyle is important to me.

The private sector is doing such a bang up job with healthcare, let's stick with them.
Agreed, give the private sector a chance and the perceived problems can be eliminated, just as they have been gradually eliminated for decades. Of course when you say healthcare you mean access, but even on access alone do you want to compare it now to 30 years ago? If Obama care passes THIS will mark the historic peak in the quality and access of US healthcare.

Not surprising since it is Obama's intent to preside over the decline of America.

3 million -- that's the decrease in the number of middle-income earners who obtained health insurance from their employers from 2000 to 2008.1
And 3 times -- is how much faster health care premiums are rising compared to wages.2
While our broken health care system is hurting everyone, it's the middle class that's feeling it the most. A report just out from the non-partisan Robert Wood Johnson Foundation shows that the middle class became uninsured at a faster pace than those with less or more income. And if we do nothing, the problem will only get worse.
But there's hope. Health insurance reform will lower costs and put America's middle class and small businesses back in the driver's seat of their own health care. The stakes are just too high for the millions of Americans who are hurting because of the way our current health care system works. The time is now for health insurance reform.

The whole "Do you want the government to screw this up too" argument is moot. 80% of the crap Obama is going through was brought on by his predecessor. Obama has been trying to un-do the damage.

Who else can send a letter across the country for .45 cents? The government, while it seems bloated, can do somethings right.

I am all for the public option. It is about time our country step up to the plate for its people.

And that is why the post office runs at a loss every year...

Really good control of things yeah...:?

Yeah the health nut across the street just dropped dead walking to his mail box..

His exorcise really helped him out...
