hi guys.

well underway with my first grow and have 10 seedling going in the mother cab now.

but i feel they are growing abit tall and puny without any branching happening anytime soon.

can you just have a look at the pic and see if this is normal?

of all the books ive read by jorge i just cant see any seedlings there with the same height without beeing more "bushy"

Yes, I would say some of them are stretching a bit too thin

I recommend getting a fan in there to help strengthen up your stems which will lead to more dense and larger buds

at the moent they are placed about 20-25 cm away from 4 x 18w t8's so its not stretching for light could they?

i realize air circulation will strenghten them but will it remedy the stretching?..

IMO air circulation in wind will help with your stretching because it will strengthen your stems so they will get to be more proportionate to the height of your plants

I think they are stretching for the light so you want to get the lights as close as you can without burning the babies which is touching them with the light

? those look fine its probably the light is too far away or too weak.

Has long has the seedling are growing well don't worry if they have good coulour then internod's will follow shortly.Get the lights has near has you can though so that the first set of nodes will not be too far away from the next set.If you are growing in soil then you realy don't have to worry about a little streching to start.Just put the stem below the soil line this will not have any bad effect on the plant. But keep a good check on the light's because a plant with streched internode's will produce very little. If the light's that you are useing are warm then have a fan blowing up and away from the plants to cool the hood or tube's.Asecondry fan is always good to keep the plant moveing at a young age this will toughen them up.

ok thanks guys, theese were started in a dome that just recently came off.

i just assumed 4 x 18w coolwhite t8's would be sufficient light for both seedling and my mom.. around 5700 lumens.

might be my nerves taking hold hehe.. its insane how obsessed you become with theese damn plants ;) im sure i check on them atleast 15 times a day :weed:

DO NOT have a fan blowing direct on your plants, the whole makes the stems stronger thing is a myth (some truth in it but most don't understand the why)
Read this (direct link)

and lower your lights (or raise your plants) T8's do not have a serious heat issue and can be very close, but as was said you can cover some of the stretched stem when you transplant up to a bigger pot

ive moved them up now so they are around 2 inches from the t8's.

temps at that height are stable at 27 celcius but im having trouble getting the humidity up in the cabinet.. cant get it higher than 35% with exhaust running at the lowest rpm..

would filling up soil higher on stem not cause it too rot? will it start growing roots there?

thank you for all the advice guys.

How are you trying to raise your humidity?

and you can bury the stem up close to the cotyledons when you transplant with no problem, will not rot and new roots will grow out of the stem, it is a very common practice

i have 3 10 liter buckets filled with clay pebbles we call "leca" in my country.
theese buckets have also been filled almost too the top with water so it amazes me humidity wont go up..

very nice too know i can do that with the stem whn transplanting :)

is there a fan blowing over the tubs of rocks/stones, if not that would help

you can also try a wick stand which is to hang a wet towel up in your garden that is bottom end in a bucket/bowl of water also needs a fan blowing on it
