I do too. I sprinkle them with lemon right before serving ... it brightens the taste up.

I have family in P.R. .... they get it all too well. What most ppl don't know is the islanders look down upon the USA P.R's a bit. Racism??

Grits... it what's for dinner, lunch and breakfast!!

I went with a friend many years ago down to his parents farm in south Miami. On that trip was when I had my first boiled peanuts !! I was hooked!!! Tossing the shells, smoking weed, and drinking big gulps the whole way down. Then we get there really late. Next morning I say hi to the family and Momma makes a huge breakfast.... with a pile of white stuff I had never seen before...being raised a Yankee. I was parented to always eat what others made for me...so i dug in.... I must say...I was NOT impressed at all. They only put salt & pepper on theirs, so I did the same. I got through it however....and thinking that was over. We worked on his Pop's boat engine as we went down to do some serious lobstering. Well, for lunch...guess what... more grits!!! Then came dinner..... GRITS AGAIN!!! Staring to get the pattern? I went from ZERO grits to about all I could handle.... but I did because I was their guest. I never said a word, not even to my buddy. " How are they?" GREAT!!!
But by the time I left there, I was hooked on them. the next morning Momma must have had good instincts....she gave me maple syrup... I LOVED her right then and there!! MommA!!!
