I'm a Zen Buddist, we have no God only a reverence for Mother Nature and Budda who was simply an enlightened man

So can you tell me what the sound of one hand clapping is ???

it's a famous buddist koan
sounds kinda like when ur having sex  but heres what i found

The sound of one hand
Two hands clap and there is a sound. What is the sound of one hand?— Hakuin Ekaku"...in the beginning a monk first thinks a kōan is an inert object upon which to focus attention; after a long period of consecutive repetition, one realizes that the kōan is also a dynamic activity, the very activity of seeking an answer to the kōan. The kōan is both the object being sought and the relentless seeking itself. In a kōan, the self sees the self not directly but under the guise of the kōan...When one realizes ("makes real") this identity, then two hands have become one. The practitioner becomes the kōan that he or she is trying to understand. That is the sound of one hand." — G. Victor Sogen Hori, Translating the Zen Phrase Book[10]

Perlite is something you PUT IN the soil not ON, you mix at least one cup of perlite per gallon of soil (can use more if needed) for fast easy drainage in your soil (which is what adding perlite does, makes it drain better, gives your roots better access to O2)

mix the perlite into your soil, stir it up good then plant/transplant your plant into it

ya also make sure the soil is moist before you plant, that is a BIG deal lol. Read my newbie blog, for more info on what happened to me(dry soil pockets). U should mix the perlite BEFORE you put it in the pot, move it around real good get some oxygen in it. I got a 15 gallon container, and I simply use my hands to mix my dirt in there. Lightly put it in the pot so its not crushed in there. Then water the dirt, but dont saturate it(let it get too wet and actually buckle on itself). Then transplant. If you do it this way you wont have many problems. Perlite is VERY useful at water retention and should be in most potting soil or potting mix.

Okay so I have a question as well... I had some salt buildup in my soil from my water that was being used from the wrong side of the water softener. (I was out of town and my wife mixed the nutes with the well water after the water softener so my nutes mixture contained NaCL). This caused an obvious salt buildup so I went ahead and flushed my plants yesterday. They are in 5 gallon buckets with fox farm soil. I ran 10-15 gallons of water through each of them and then let them drip dry outside before moving them back in to their room.

SO the question that I have is did I do this correct? I have never flushed a plant before so I am completely new to this process. How long before I apply nutes again? Anything else I should do or know? I did go and purchase a reverse osmosis system to run my well water through and I am thinking that this will fix everything for me once I have it hooked up, am I correct?

sounds like you did this correctly bro, what flushing does is sucks all the nutrients in the soil out with the salts. So you should feed as soon as the soil is ready to be watered. IT could be really soon because, when you flush, the plant transpires at a greater rate. Making the water dry up sooner.

I need some help with nutrients...maybe its something else?
I will be growing DWC under 400 MH & HPS. This is my first time and I just finished my 3'x3'x4' box recently with 2 135cfm fans for intake and exhaust. Anyways, I bought a nutradip trimeter and hooked it up. It was reading normal in distilled water I have in my 10 gallon bin - 7.0 ph - 0040 ppm - 70*. Then when I turned on the 400 MH, the ppm jumps up to about 4500 and stays there. Is there too much light getting into the resevoir? How can I fix this?

so are they ok like that, maybe a little less trimming? I just want to know for the future. The plants are really strong and healthy. This is only my second flower. My first had too many branchs and I ended up with a shit load of little usless buds.

If you have the space you want to trim as little as possible, you will have less bud the more you pull off.
