Guns

Mainly because I thought the question had no merit. It is only common sense that if you can't get to your weapon, you may as well have no weapon. What would you do, tell the perp Hey I've got a gun, someplace?~LOL~
Again, you are assuming the perp is standing over your bed while you sleep. I am assuming the homeowner's dog has awakened him, security lights came on, an alarm sounded, a home security device went off, etc.

What if you are sitting in your living room and the front door comes crashing in, it's called home invasion and they are happening with more and more frequency. If your gat is in the bedroom, you are screwed. BTW dogs are good, I have two, one weighs about 100 lbs and has a very loud bark. He is very sensetive to outside sounds.

I'll need a source on that statistic.

(Yeah, dogs are great!)
I don't know where you live, but maybe you should watch your local nightly news, Here's one: Man Grazed By Bullet During Home Invasion - Local News Story - KVVU Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- Police are searching for two men in connection to a home invasion. Dec. 27 2007, just a couple a days ago

Sometime late Wednesday night, police said the men knocked on a residential door on Sierra Pines Court.

The homeowner did not recognize the men, so he did not answer the door, police said. The men then kicked in the door and a struggle ensued, investigators said.

During the altercation, officers said one of the men fired a shot toward the homeowner. The bullet grazed his shoulder but police said he was not seriously hurt.

Officers do not have a description of either of the assailants in this invasion. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

Happens quite frequently here.

Thank you for correcting the link.

Okay, that's one. Show me a statistic indicating a rise in Home Invasions.

Having looked for stats I can say they are slim to none. Most police departments don't like to alarm their citizens but I found this article:

Home Invasion

One of the more frightening and potentially dangerous crimes that can occur to a family is a home invasion robbery. A home invasion is when robbers force their way into an occupied home, apartment or hotel room to commit a robbery or other crimes. It is particularly frightening because it violates our private space and the one place that we think of as our sanctuary.
Home invasion is like the residential form of an automobile carjacking and it's on the rise. Like the crime of carjacking, most police agencies don’t track home invasions as a separate crime. Most police agencies and the FBI will statistically record the crime as a residential burglary or a robbery. Without the ability to track the specific crime of home invasion, little can be done to alert the public as to the frequency of occurrence in their community or devise a law enforcement plan of action to control it.

Okay, nobody tracks home invasions specifically.

...I'm here debating on whether this should continue.... Screw it.

Let's broaden the net shall we? Show me a statistic indicating a rise in "residential burglary or a robbery".

If the crime of home invasion is rising as you say, surely the overall statistics can bear this out.

I'm with you, screw it. I'm not doing anymore research on this. Get yourself a gun and be prepared or not. makes me no nevermind.

So we're back to the scenario where the perp has gained entry. I say Homeowner B is ready and defends himself using deadly force (regardless of the disposition of his weapon at the time prior to the crime). Dead, or seriously injured perp. No cheese sandwich.

Thats why knowing Homeowner B is an NRA die hard I shoot kill him on his way into the driveway. A 7mm rife with a scope might take him out as he puts thekeys into his front door. I am the cheese sandwitch bandit and I will know my mark. If somebody wants that sandwitch bad enough they will take it. :peace:

The Bill of Rights does not exist merely on the physical plane. It is a timeless concept most of us honor. Without the Bill of Rights government agents can do terrible things to you under the guise of law and order. Are these rights abused/ignored by the Right and the Left? Absolutely.
UMMM.. wow.... that is amazing.. can you explain the red part for me..

I did not KNOW there was anything besides the physical plane... and what is timeless?

Shit I got robbed a year ago by 2 guys with guns....I was sitting in living room and when the door came open I ran to my room to get my 9mm and was stopped dead in my tracks by one of the gunmen...and got on the ground. Those guys would be dead sir dead if i was in my room at the time. I remember at the time i was going to go in my room and watch some tv but i decided to hit the bong in the living room. And let me tell you that would not be my first gunfight, I was in more I can count in Falluja Iraq and I was a marksmanship instructor in the Marines.........Those guys don't know how lucky they were.......thats the only statistic I need

gk explain to me please why people shouldnt believe in there thoughts?
First we must be aware of what A thought actually IS..

It is impossible to THINK

The phrase I think is as preposterous as I digest or I breath.

Thinking is an automated process... IT is like a single form of train cars PASSING through the brain.. each car is a thought... The space inbetween these thoughts is SPACE... or some people call it GOD...

It is essential to be able to BE conscious of the AWARENESS that is aware of "thoughts".... to be able to differentiate between ONE self and thoughts before we can even touch n the subject of THOUGHTS not being real...

As humans, we are capable of watching thoughts or reacting to thoughts... there is NO choice.. regarding WHAT ONE thinks.. this is the most simple yet most difficult step..

It is simple... because, ONE becomes aware of this with very little "WATCHING of THE MIND" practice...

it is difficult because it requires actually practicing something that can not be DONE.. and the mind ONLY knows HOW to DO... and most people think they are there mind and therefore can ONLY CONCIVE of DOING things in order to get results...

BUT the first step is MOVING your awareness away from your mind so that ONE can see the nature of thoughts.. so that one can watch thoughts LIKE one watches a wild animal in its natural habitat...

This is very hard to CONCEPTUALIZE unless one has the experience.. some people call this practice "meditation" .. this is not a GREAT term, because it is a concept... that actually means.. WATCHING the mind...

When one practices, watching the mind, the space in between the TRAIN cars gets bigger and bigger... the space in between thoughts gets LONGER and longer.. ONEs identity starts to transform.. one identity loosens uits grip ON identifying with thoughts..

SO then, what does ONE become...

Well, for starters.. ONE can see thoughts... one can see that thoughts are less than 1%of 1% of 1% of what is going on... LOL

ahahahah

I hope this helped

if you are still interested, I can go further.. and I can actually try to go slower...

or you can just stab at it and KNOW/experience for yourself..

Vipassana Meditation Website

Once you awaken.. there is no turning back... nothing to be scared of... but it is worth noting....

There is no risk... all you have to do is stop thinking.... and everything you have left is REALITY

When one argues with reality, one begins to suffer.

Arguing with reality is tantamount to believing ONEs thoughts

The statement is simple enough to understand. I cannot prove the unprovable. An object either exists in form or it doesn't. A concept does not require paper, or a time limit, to be genuine.

What started out as burglary has become premeditated murder. Very little could be done to prevent being stalked and killed with a rifle.
