I originally was operating in a walk in closet measuring 5ft x 3.5ft. It conveniently had the attic entrance in the ceiling. It was becoming a pain to run the fans into the attic because I was drawing all the air out of the house. So, I bought a 2.8ft x 4.1ft tent with a 600w HPS cooltube and a ValueAir 6" 340cfm inline fan. The tent is in a room that is 13ft x 13ft and has central air. I keep the house set to 74 during the day when the lights are on. Initially, I had a passive intake. My fan was hooked up to one end of the light and the other end was open thus drawing in air from the tent and blowing it into the room. The tent was always running around 90 degrees and the room the tent was in was getting as hot as 82!
I then hooked the open end of the cool tube to a port on the tent so now my fan draws air from outside thetent and trough the light and back out into the room. So for intake, I hooked up a 200cfm fan to one port and a 160cfm exhaust fan thinking with three fans I could cool it down. No bueno! Temps 36" below the light are 94 degrees even with the central air set to 70!
My question is, with the three fans that I have, what's the best way to set them up to get this tent cool? Am I going to have to install a window AC? Would I be better off going back to the closet? Thanks everyone.
