600w - How many CFM do I need to cool this?

So I am going to have a 600w hps in a 6'' cooltube setup, running in my 6'x2'x7' closet that I have panda filmed off, my question is with a cooltube, what kind of CFM does my inline fan need to be pulling to keep the heat reasonable? If I haven't provided enough info please ask!

Well with a 6" fitting the smallest volume of air would be in the 3-400 cfm range but it is really about room size, you want to exchange the air every 5-10 minutes minimum.

To produce enough pressure to cool through a 6'' diameter it needs to be 3-400+ is what you mean? I was looking at a 550 CFM I can get pretty cheap. So my air volume currently is like 85 cf...that seems like it would be plenty right? Going (Filter [eventually]) -------> Cool Tube --------> Inline fan ------->Out of the closet, is this correct? with the filter at the top of my closet to pull air out?

Yeah man, anything 400CFM+ would work great. Remember that when the fan is sucking through the filter AND cooltube, the CFM wont be anywhere near 400. I have a 400 and it was really powerful by itself, after hooking it up to my cooltube and filter, it probably pulls 200CFM. But my cab is only like 40 cu ft so it's still a perfect size.

My CU FT is going to probably be more like 40-50 if I want to split it up to do perpetual...I am just REALLY concerned that this is going to generate too much heat and I won't be able to cool it without AC (I have central keeping the house at ~76 but the closet gets to like 85 with some t5's and a DIY 150w CFL reflector...(currently no ventilation in the closet other than an oscillating fan.

You want the heat to go through the fan. They are built to endure fairly high temps, mine is built to withstand 250f. You will be fine for up to 4 600w lights per 400 cfm fan being roughly a 10x12 foot area with room to work a bit.

Correct. It's not nearly as efficent to push air over the light. You NEED to suck the air over your cooltube. A 400-500CFM centrifugal fan would be perfect for you. My 400 was $79 and it's pretty quiet.

I am able to get a 550 CFM for ~$75 locally, with a speed control, seems like a pretty good deal I think I'll pick it up! The tube and ballast should be arriving sometime this week!

Also I am wondering what bulb I should pick up, can I just pick up any HPS bulb (like from 1000bulbs.com) or is it worth it to go with a "grow" hps like hortilux? Its a 600w dimmable lumatek ballast...

Buy a grow bulb, you will like it

Its not just a game of lumens and lux but also PAR rating. Adjusted bulbs that offer expanded spectrum as well as increased radiation in appropriate wavelengths is important.

Pretty sure some bulbs are made for analog and some are made for digital as well so watch out for that. Digital being primarily grow type situation and Analog being used more forsecurity applications.
