Inline Fan from HomeDepot... need opinion

Need an opinion on a nice little inline fan I found at Home Depot..

I calculated my growing space to be roughly 90 cubic feet... will this do the trick of keeping things cool ? btw, I want to vent to the attick

That fan would be ideal for your venting needs. The fan is rated at 200cfm, and will move 200 cubic feet of air each minute. That would circulate your grow space twice every minute. Not too bad!

Venting into the attic will be just fine.

For roughly the same cost, you can get your hands on two inline fans rated at 210 CFM a piece.

That gives you a total 420 CFM of exhaust power.

These can be attached to dimmers to slow down the fans, should the cooling effect be too excessive.

An intake fan is optional. You can achieve adequate results using a passive intake (a hole to let air in with NO fan).
A rule of thumb: passive intake should be twice as large (size of exhaust holes) as the exhaust hole.

You will also need to get an oscillating fan for the plants. The breeze does them good!

I'm pretty new to the growing scene and need help but this is what I'm working with so far.

Space: 4.5 ft X 3 ft X 8 ft
Light: Got a 400 HPS light kit on the way
Planning to vent into the attic

So is it better to pull air from a cool tube setup or blow it thru ? I'd suspect that sucking would be better than blowing... (lol, that sounds funny).

That home depot fan is going to be worthless hooked up to a cooltube. I have that Home Depot 6" model and it's only good for an intake fan. You will need a centrifugal fan to pair with your cooltube.

it might also be worth it to take smell into account at this point. ie maybe look into getting a carbon filtered inline fan as an exhaust to eliminate smell.

Yes, the temp at the intake is most important.

Yeah that should be ok so long as it can slowly disipate out above. If you are concerned with the smell at all though a carbon filter would do the trick.

Another thing you might want to think about is if you have an intake fan low to the ground and passive exhaust up near ceiling, the hotter air will get pushed out. This may not have any different effect for you, but could allow for different varieties of set ups.

No, suck air out of your tent, do not blow air in. you want the preasure in the tent lower than the preasure outside the tent. You control heat and odor better this way.
