How do you get an accurate temp at canopy level? I find thermometers (cases and all) heat up when under direct light.

I've noticed that too. My other one reads about 2 degrees lower consistently, so maybe my average is 80-83? that's at the very top and they seem to be fine with that heat.

kudos my friend on rounds 1, 2, 3. very inspirational.
i have recently decided to change my cloning, veg method similar to the method that you use.
clones under floros for two weeks, veg for two weeks(top after first week right), then flower.
i was vegging for four weeks, but plants are just way too tall for what im trying to do now. "HEAVY PRODUCTION". 48 plants in 7"x7" pots flowering, 12 plants every two weeks in coco.
looking to switch to 6"x6" pots which will boost me up to 96 plants, 24 plants floweing every two weeks. and i dont want 96 three and four foot plants
i was planning on getting a 4x8 tent, i dont know if i'll be able to handle the TX. heat. it was like 102 yesterday, so yea its hot.
but i know that Michigan weahter doesn't get that hot that often at all. but i'll ask anyway; how do you keep the heat down and the cool in that 4x4 with a 1000, or the 600. just curious. but yea man, awesome grows!

Thanks for dropping in, and the attention to details. Yeah I've vegged 3 weeks in the past with one topping (usually 2 weeks after root) and I'm going to be trying 4 weeks of veg this time instead. Want them just a touch bigger then they are with a 3 week.
I barely keep my tent cool. Average it's 80-85 in there... just running the 450cfm vortex fan with the air cooled 1000 and the carbon scrubber. I cool my entire apt with central air to fight the heat. It's been peaking into the 90s here in mich and we've had some 60 -70 percent humidity days also... really really happy I bought that dehumidifier now.

i would look into coco. best of both worlds, less than a quarter of the work, and stress. and in my opinion its more affordable.

I would be interested in trying it, but everyone I see that does it hand feeds. I love the fact that I can pretty much leave my setup for 7 - 10 days no problem...nice for vacation or when RL comes calling...
Thanks man, yeah I know the soil aint pretty but it should yield decent... live and learn...needed to save money that round think I accomplished it, time to move on and put the super blue dual arc to better use u know...

hey man i was chiming in to tell you that i think i've found a solution to the tent and heat problem. but first
HUBBA, HUBBA, HUBBA, my goodness man i am blown away. dude you got it going on, for real man.
zen likey.
but anyway back to my hot, sweltering planet know as "nobigbudsroundhere". i decided to forget the 4x8 tent, i'm going with an 8x8x6.5 that way i can have my portable ac unit(12k btu) inside the tent instead of try to "GET" the cool air inside the tent. i can keep my two 600's and put my 3x1.5x5 veg tent inside, and if i choose(which i probably will) i will still have enough room to put up my 400wt.
also do you run co2, because since i'm getting this huge tent i figure i should try to maxize everything. anyway nice plants man, i'm out.

Yeah a portable AC would be nice to have, but I don't have the 500 I need for a good sized one. Also how long are the tubes? you have to dump the air outside and a 10ft run could be letting a lot of heat escape into the rest of your place. Consider insulating those tubes if they are long runs, it could really make a difference.
No I don't run CO2 yet, but it is something I want to start before too long. I'm kinda waiting until I have 800 extra though so I can grab a controller, regulator and bottle and do it right. I don't feel like guessing and checking and not having control over my exhaust fans during injection.
Oh sorry it's kinda a video game term, stands for 'Real Life' haha
