If you have time to reach your plants and destroy and rid of them, while a cop is knocking on your door, the cop doesn't have a warrant. They don't usually knock and wait if they have a drug related warrant. All of this information is available in the security thread here on RIU
or maybe i just move way way faster than you could even dream lol. I for sure jumped the gun, and i payed the price... was smoking alot of dry sieved trichs from a bubba kush harvey at the time, i suspect it superimposed my better judgement. this was long before i even knew about RIU, this was long before i knew about much at all really. even if i had though(been on RIU)- yea thats what i'd do; a cops at my door banging away ,and before i use the brain in my own head, let me run an log onto RIU and do a little search! i mean seriously, was your nose in the air as you typed that?

If they came to your door with a warrant they would have caved the door in to have a look around. I seriously doubt they would be there just because of what your neighbor said. That would be heresay anyhow. I am sure the police have more important things to worry about in NY anyhow.

Example-

http://www.steubencourier.com/featur...-50-pot-plants

Earl J. Sherwood, 39, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, and unlawfully growing cannabis, a misdemeanor, after deputies allegedly found 50 plants – some of which were more than 6-feet tall – growing on the property where he was living.

They felony if you notice is related to possession and not cultivation.

S 221.20 Criminal possession of marihuana in the third degree.
A person is guilty of criminal possession of marihuana in the third
degree when he knowingly and unlawfully possesses one or more
preparations, compounds, mixtures or substances containing marihuana and
the preparations, compounds, mixtures or substances are of an aggregate
weight of more than eight ounces.

He was charged with having more than one preperation of marijuana. That was a Class E felony for possession of marijuana.

Cannabis is just a plant until it is harvested.
If the guy had no harvested maryjane than he would have only been charged with unlawfully cultivating marijuana which is a misdemeanor in NYS.

I know my shit guy. How many years have you been studying NYS law? Are you even a college graduate?

Along with the marijuana plants, deputies reported finding paraphernalia used in the growing of marijuana. The investigation was part of an ongoing countywide marijuana eradication sweep. Town of Marcy, NY -- A domestic dispute early this morning lead to Oneida County Sheriff’s deputies accusing a man of growing marijuana outside a Hayes Road residence.
Deputies said the incident started at about 1 a.m. in the Town of Vernon when Stanley Laskowski, 50, of Boonville, showed up at his 18-year-old girlfriend’s apartment and the two began arguing.

During the argument, Laskowski left in a rage saying that he was going to harm himself. His girlfriend then called deputies.
Deputies reached Laskowski on his cell phone, but he refused to meet with them to discuss the incident or his intentions. Deputies tracked Laskowski to Hayes Road in the Town of Marcy. He was on foot and refused to surrender to deputies.
Four hours later, deputies found Laskowski inside a home that he is taking care of on Hayes Road. Their investigation also found that Laskowski was growing marijuana outside the home.
Deputies accused Laskowski of illegally growing of cannabis, a misdemeanor. He was then taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation
