No Fucking Jobs Anywhere

But the pres says he saved the economy and has created 1,000 of jobs..

I got a bridge for sale also...
I understand why a prez wouldn't want to talk 'gloom and doom' when it comes to the economy but there is now serious talk about a double dip recession. What does this mean for the employment picture? My guess is it means there will be even more jobs lost and more people losing their homes. The jobs seem to have evaporated almost overnight. What are those millions of jobs going to be replaced with? Uncertainty is a motherfucker!:fire:

I understand what your saying but "career suicide?" If your unemployed you have no career! Round here the turnaround rate at burger joints is very high, they know this and I think would sooner take a guy with a masters than a 16 year old who's parents made find a job. Not like they will have to pay the educated guy any more(most burger joints have a set pay rate). plus they know you must be in a pickel if you applying there. And when you "do" find a better job they just call one of the million 16 yr olds that also applied. Like captain phil said on "deadliest catch" you have 3 options. 1 Wait for something to happen. 2 Make something happen. 3 Wonder what the hell happened.

I'm just looking at it from the perspective that those professional levels jobs are not to be had RIGH NOW. Kinda makes schooling pointless, and if that's the case may as well beat those kids to the burger joint. I think it would be worth points when you do attempt to get a prof job. So what if it say previous employment (whataburger) shows you'll do what ever is neccesary to keep on keeping on.

Logic would seem to indicate as much but reality is a much different beast. A 'career' and a 'job' are 2 entirely different things. Burger joints don't want highly educated people. I spoke to a friend of mine who is a long time manager at a fast food chain and he said that they don't like to hire people with a lot of education because they don't usually do well in that environment. That's not to say that no fast food places anywhere will hire educated people but there is a method to their madness. Even in these extraordinary times there are myriad jobs who won't even look at your application if you are currently unemployed. I guess they figure you must be a deadbeat but again, not always the case. In my instance I worked at a medical lab and was laid off because I made too much. I am a very hard and dedicated worker and quickly climbed the ladder. I was one of only 3 people who was certified to perform all of the procedures in my department. My reward was being blindsided by my supervisors boss (she was laid off at the same time) 2 weeks after we were told that the companies financials were sound and that everybody's job was secure. Ha!

BTW, burger joints don't hire 16 year old kids around here anymore. It's all illegals and you'd better be bilingual to even be considered for a management position.

Won't be long before everyone works at a burger joint. It will be a big circle jerk selling burgers to each other.

Up here things aren't quite so bad. Unemployment rate for the entire state stands at 8.3 compared to the national average of 9.7%.
You might have to branch out to another field to become employable again. Look around at the businesses that are doing well & then see if there is something there you would/could do.
Best of luck.

I'm self employed now. I'm never going back to work for anybody again if I can avoid it. I'm tired of putting money in someone elses pocket that doesn't give a fuck whether me or my family has a roof over their head or starves to death!bongsmilie

you guys must live under rocks. there are jobs everywhere in the US. millions of them. opened the local paper today and there was one starting at 10.75 bout an hour away. so after taxes and gas that would give me a smooth 4 bucks anhour.

and if bamster gets his way all those "filthy rich oil workers" in the gulf will start applying at whataburger. they have lots of experience in grease and a 30 dollar an hour paycut shouldnt be too hard to offset.

and if you buy one of those 40 mile electric pieces of shit that bamster makes....who knows, you may even be able to drive 2 hours to whataburger....that is if you dont get T-boned by a low flying starling. can you imagine the damage that a small bird could do to those wonderful green cars? i tremble at the thought.

ps, do a search on this site and read all the folks (the smart ones) that were saying the second round of turmoil was coming. it was about a year ago. they all look like geniuses now. hold onto your socks its about to get bad.

I knew it was coming, that it was inevitable. It wasn't hard to predict if you weren't sweet-talked by politicians and media who had vested interest in conning the consumer to "spend spend spend" all while things were getting worse. All you ever had to do was recognize the numbers that spoke for themselves- GDP/debt ratio, number unemployed on/off the books, level of consumption in the US, amount of money in mortgage packages sold to clients as derivatives (was always speculative, but the numbers i saw were always astounding)

It's just crazy to rest-assured now that, as a 23 year old who just started following politics and learning a ton within the last 3-4 years...I've been right about what's happening. It's self-flattering and nice to know I can trust myself and see things the way I see them as they are, but at the same time the uncertainty remains unnerving. Once the flow of cash dries up, it becomes very hard for even the black market to survive- nobody's got loot for weed even
