150w lamps have a purpose in the tool kit... just as 600w lamps do... just as 1000w-ers do.
personally, if you are rocking only one lamp i strongly suggest a switchable digi ballast.
if not digi, external at the very least.
if not external, get whatever you can get!
imo, nothing produces for you like a hid light.
furthermore, digi is easy on amps, you can rock both bulb types, and the external ballast is more efficient with the load.
in every 24 hours, i have 600w rocking in two seperate built-in flower closets (1200w) not including side lighting , 250w in a veg closet going 20/4 , a tent rocking the 150w hps coupled w/ a 250w MH (400w) , and a clone shelf using another 100w... my issue is lots of amps (load) all the time.
the 150w HPS, for me, is a good light... just not the best or most efficient option (which is why dudeoflife make so much sense).
just buying a light mover is going to save me 150w (24 hours a day) and a minimum of 3.2 amps off my total load... both smart & efficient.
if all you can get is one lamp... go with a 150w HPS ...it'll get the job done.
