buy a gun, and set up a security light and camera, watch ur area at all times. youve witnessed first hand the wicked part of this hobby, dirty fuckin thieves!!

this is the reason for "stealth" grows, medi card or not, obviously someone saw your setup that didnt need to.. nobody should ever know about it, legal or not, its kinda like showin a friend u think u can trust a billion dollars in diamonds, then taking a nap, youll go to sleep rich and wake up poor..

Listen to you guys living in non medical states giving advice.

Why wouldn't a DA prosecute a theft? In CA MMJ is LEGAL and theft is ILLEGAL.

How are the cops not your friends? They're there to investigate crimes, which you were a victim of

Gotta say, judging by your posts you did a shitty job explaining the situation to the police. If you witnessed the crime and know the criminal it seems pretty cut and dry. It doesn't really matter what the crime is, if you didn't convince them they need to be involved, they're not going to get involved. There have been several dispensaries broken into around here and best believe the police were there and ended up catching the dudes who did it. Once again, theft is theft.

Really though, call them again and don't take no for an answer. As someone else pointed out, if your situation is not being handled the way you want, you're talking to the wrong people. The waitress can't do shit, but the manager can. And unless you make things difficult for the waitress, she won't go get the manager. In she may never, so you do it!

Haha naturally. Violence solving violence. Let us know how "manning up" goes for you in prison there thuglove. I call the police because I am smart and they are the ones who legally take care of illegal situations. Could I get a gun and "solve" it myself? Sure! But then I'd be locked up with you

I called you thuglove not cause I thought you were black or listened to rap, though I now think you're probably racist. I called you thuglove cause you think getting guns and solving things is the right way to do it, like a thug does. Maybe I should call you a cowboy instead.

So riddle me this cowboy, what happens when you grab your six shooter, kick that fools door down, and accidentally shoot his sister?

You've certainly handled that situation!

Why not just pull your head out of your ass and handle things in a civilized legal manner? You're acting like a damn thug

I live in CA and Los Angeles at that....You will not get a cop to take a report for stolen plants and no DA would ever prosecute this...A dispensary is completely different. Maybe not for you and me but different when it comes to police response.

It's just the way it is man...maybe sad but it's true

I think it's sad you consider yourself a legal expert when you obviously don't have a clue

A DA will prosecute ANY crime given appropriate evidence. The ONLY thing keeping a DA from prosecuting is insufficient evidence or evidence gained in an illegal manner.

You sound so down trodden. Have some faith in the system man! It's only gotten us this far

We're not talking about someone coming into your house. We're talking about you getting out your saddle, ponying up, and going and laying down some vigilante justice on someone who stole pot plants out of your shed.

And since you brought it up, you should trying shooting someone for coming onto your property. I can guarantee their family WILL call the cops and you will be handled in an efficient legal manner. Maybe I'll come visit you in prison.

Also, your is possessive. You're is what you were looking for. If you're going to call someone a dumbass and a retard you should probably check your grammar fool! This isn't doing a whole lot to disprove my thug theory about you. (Yes I know you're not black and you don't listen to rap!)

do people not get it...the cops see all these legal grows as a slap to the face..your using state laws to get away with something that 10 years ago they would have locked you up for.your nothing more then another pothead to them.they will not take it serious...if the only thing stolen was your plants...they wont give a shit.got to remember that most cops dont give a shit that its a "legal" grow....thats state law to begin with.federal laws says its still illegal.so call the cops..make a report...have nothing come from it...and start another grow...but maybe make it where everyone cant see it.had it been properly hidden and had no none known about it..this wouldnt be a issue.so you really think the police care about you or your crop...if you think they do..put the pipe down...you have smoked yourself retarded.

Let me guess, weed isn't the only thing you smoke....Do you happen to live in a town with a population of 100 where everyone knows each other and the local sheriff doesn't where a gun...Go to weekly town meetings and stuff like that? Do you have any idea how much it costs the city to prosecute someone? Do you really think a prosecutor is going to do it over a couple of plants with zero dollar value? Even before that, you first gotta get a cop to do his job and write a report. That cop then has to forward it to the DA's office and have them review it to see if it's worth pursuing.

Like someone else said, it's a slap in the face to the PD. They're not going to help you find your plants and the bad bad people that took them. Come on dude, be a little real about it.

Right because the police made the anti-pot laws....

There are articles on this very site showing the law enforcements' support of legalization.

You probably think cops still have it out against blacks (because they "managed to get their freedom") or women (cause they "managed to get equal rights as men") You're living in a fantasy world if you think the police take it personally when a law changes. Legalization makes LESS work for them. I bet they smile as they dream about a world where all drugs are legal and they don't have to fuck with it

Last time I checked local cops didn't work for the feds. If state law says it's cool, then cops follow suit. The only way they won't take this seriously is if you don't MAKE THEM take it seriously.

They probably wouldn't give a shit if you called them up and said someone stole my pink Barbie bike. Think they'd show up for a police report? Nope. Not unless you MADE them.

I don't think the police care about me or my crop. But I KNOW that they care about upholding the law. And I KNOW that if I go to his superior and say my theft claim wasn't taken seriously, that I WILL be taken seriously.

The population of Fort Collins, CO is 59,229 so a few more people than 100. I've never seen the sheriff but all his/her deputies seem to wear guns.

It costs the city less than $100 to prosecute someone for petty theft. It costs even less than that to prosecute someone for a traffic violation which happens every day. I do think that the DA would prosecute because:

In order to convict you of California petty theft per Penal Code 488, the prosecutor must only prove two facts (otherwise known as "elements"):
  1. that you committed the crime of theft, and
  2. that the property was valued at $400 or less.
According to craigslist (in YOUR backyard, LA) the cost of a 1-2 ft tall plant is $75. He got a couple stolen, but that's less than $400. He also witnessed the crime happen. Sounds like it can be prosecuted on BOTH parts!

ANY crime is a slap in the face to LEOs, even my Barbie bike theft scenario. Acting like the police take some things personally and other things not personally is ridiculous.

You are the one who needs to be a little real. I'm quoting facts, laws, and experience in the legal field ( I wonder what my profession is?) and you're just talking out your ass and being negative. Step up your game a little son!

The only way you won't be taken seriously is if you let them not take you seriously...

YOUR tax dollars pay THEIR salaries. You really think they could get away picking and choosing which crimes they want to pursue because of their personal beliefs?

Come on fellas!

You must really suck at what you do, and the way you said experience in the legal field leads me to assume your either a receptionist or a paralegal. I'm not arguing what the law is, I'm telling you it doesn't work the way you think it does or the way it should. You're being very naive about this and I'm not saying that to insult you. Maybe cops in CO are different than cops down here, but cops aren't going to waste their time following leads and wasting time looking for cannabis plants, get real dude.

Assuming you get Mr. Joe Lawman to come and hear your story. He asks you, if your plant has anything on it that you can identify as yours. You say other than buds, no....he asks you if you took the guys plate, you say no...he asks you if you know who it was, you say I heard them talking and the guys name is John...he'll say did you do anything, you'll say "no I just stood there watching them take my shit"...He'll then ask you what the fuck you expect him to do about it....Dust for prints? you watch too many cop movies. I'll guarantee you 110% no one is going to dust for prints in this situation.

As for your cost of prosecution thoughts, you're wayyyyyy off. Even though you list 2 things the prosecutor must prove, you fail to point out that #1 That you committed the crime of theft is basically the prosecution in it's entirety and not as simple as you're trying to make it out to be.

Like I said, maybe where you're at, Mr. Lawman does his job and follows the law to the letter....It doesn't work like that here.
