Rotten bud!?!

I check my, single, plant daily and remove all dead leaves. this morning I got up and checked each bud out and one of them had really dead leaves on. when I removed the leaves part of the bud just fell off with it. upon looking half of the bud was rotten on the inside. I trimmed off all of the parts but what worries me is the possibility of this spreading. I am about a week away from harvest what is everyone's advice on this.

outdoors, I could not find any bug inside of it but that's a possibility, anything this late in blooming that I can do to prevent that from happening again?

sounds like botris..a fungal disease. its where the bud rots and turns into blackish grey mush. Usually from a frost or from heavy rain that sits in the bud and causes it to rot. I would pick it, and cut off all of the rotten parts before it spreads. It can happen overnight!

it was a grayish mush, I removed all the affected areas. Should I be thinking about harvesting a little early?

Sounds like bud rot. If you do not excise the areas affected it will spread throughout your entire plant and to other plants in the area. Think of it as a necessary amputation to keep gangrene from spreading throughout the body. If you do a good enough job of cutting the infected areas out your plant will be fine.

thank for all the quick responses. I made sure again that the area is 100% clean and no other buds were affected.

If things come back and/or worsen, you can consider as a last resort a disease control spray. I'm an organic grower, but for bud rot you need to act quick and idk if i'd trust organics to kill that off n save a plant in time, so when i say last resort i'd prob go chemical, which will alter the flavor/smoke of your buds most likely. But if it's that or losing all of it, gotta do what ya gotta do. Maybe even bust a fan out on an extension cord and point it at your plant whenever it's not raining & whatnot to help keep it dry so that the buds aren't as moist? Pending on how much you'll yield n what this plant is worth to you, it might even be worth the small price to goto HD/Lowes and buy 4 stakes/posts and some clear plastic sheet and just create a lil cover for your girl to protect from rain n whatnot, and that way it won't sacrifice any lumens?

it is suppose to be 88 degrees today and stay that way for a week so I am hoping that will dry her out and keep her dry. I would rather pull her early than try and put chemicals on her, since it is only a week early. Is that even an option if it comes down to it?

When you're talking about a disease, yes, disease control works. At the very least, spraying your plants down with a water dilluted hydrogen peroxide solution is another great way to help prevent bud rot, mold, & mildew. But i agree, the chemicals are unwanted (atleast in my garden), however, if i were to see that on all but 1 of my girls right now, I'm too far away to say okay I'm gonna pull early, and would need to find some way to fix the situation and prolong their life in the ground.

That's good that the weather is getting better. Sounds like we got the same weather pattern this past week or so. Lots of fog, overcast, & rainy weather where I'm at, but it's bright blue skys the past couple days and looks like we will have an indian summer thru fall, so hopefully I can keep the fungus & disease to a minimum.

So did two things this morning that got me thinking....
First smoked a part of the bud that I had to trim because of the bud rot...Very very, omg wow, good smoke.
Second checked my plant and it was drenched (like it was raining all night) with condensation, making me worry about further bud rot.

I am really temped to harvest mainly out of fear that the condensation will destroy my plant and that would really blow since I am only a couple days away from being 100% ready for harvest.
Should I worry about the condensation or not?

Edit: Since the sun finally came up I went out and checked every bud again. I found 3 caterpillars...I don't want to rush things but I am getting really scared that leaving it out will mean I will lose the whole thing.

It's not condensation if they're just sitting there in the open. It's more just absorbtion. Your buds are like sponges, and as long as it rains, they are going to absorb as much as they can before dripoff, and then the sec it rains, it will take a certain amount of time to dry unless you're doing something extra like putting a fan on them. Again, going to home depot and buying FOUR POSTS and a box of 4 millimeter CLEAR PLASTIC. Shouldn't cost you more than $30-40. The cost of an 1/8th. I assure you if you were to tarp your plants and give them atleast another 2 weeks, you will gain more than 1/8th in weight from your plant. So the posts & plastic will pay for itself. I know how tempting it can be to pull right now, esp if you're low on good smoke. But this will only help your cause even more if you wait.

Have the hairs on your buds even turned from white to red/orange/brown?

Have you looked at your trichomes under a magnifying glass to see if they are clear, cloudy, or amber colored?

My guess is you still have white hairs, clear trichomes, and could prob go til Oct 14-21 MINIMUM and close to double the weight you are currently seeing if they really are at the point I think they are. They gain most of their weight when they swell and get denser in their final weeks. Up to you tho. Pics would really help to better advise you.

That def sounds like bud rot or mold caused by high humidity, rain, or moisture from frost. Usually if you have bud worms the bud will look kinda like but rot but it wont be a slimy mush it will be dryer brown dead bud/leaf.

Looks good! I see some purple hues showing in some of the calyx. It's up to you tho homes. I'm glad you took my advice on busting a fan out and putting up some plastic to shelter them. That should make a huge difference and allow you to continue as long as you choose with little to no more problems. You should spend your time right now flushing, and in a week if the trichs are starting to get cloudy or at all amber, then pull. If she goes another week, keeps adding weight, and the trichs are fine, then I say try to push her another 2 til like Oct 14. I think you'll be even more impressed if you wait.

I want to just start off by saying "$%@#$%@$&#%%&#%&#%%&^#^*(&($%@#$~%^^&"
Since I have been having issues with my plant a few of my buddies decided to show up and look at her to tell me what I could do, they both looked at the plant said "holy shit look at those leaves pull her, pull her now!"
I don't have my digital camera because I lent it to a friend, but all the leaves are or almost pale green, looking totally sapped of all nuts. I guess once the leaves are gone the plant starts sucking from the buds...
Next time this is all being done indoors, I will grow the plants from seed instead of getting a half dead clone.
I just want to say thanks to everyone that helped me and gave me advise, hopefully by this time next year I will be able to do the same.

Edit: I really want to push this an other week but mother nature seems damn determined to stop me from doing that
