drmarcus, i think it is a bit too early. They don't even have that many roots yet. Your soil will fall apart when you try to transplant. Give them a week. Patience will reward you.

4 out of 4!! about 2 hours after my last post i checked the garden and the last girl popped! literally from nothing to something in 2 hours! does anybody think its too early to transplant? the only reason they got started in solo cups is i ran out of fox farms soil and my local store was closed for vaca!!! 1 was started in 3 gallon 3 were forced into solo cups...too early to transplant? (hydro store is back from vaca lol)

any pic updates for the contest out there!!? id love to compare my girls at 2-3 days
Give those plants at least a week before you transplant. Let them develop some roots.
I have a pic of my plant at 10 days on post 210.

edit-didn't see Napa already answered you transplant question.

I just put a Roadrunner in the ground last night man. Any quirks about them so far?

Do any of you guys use DWC for your autos? I germ'd two seeds amd want to use the DWC setup I have but I've never gone from seeds to any type of hydro before, always used clones in the hydro.

I soaked my rockwool like I would with a clone and put a seed in the pre made hole in the cube. I just gently pushed it down in the hole as far as I could and then tried to fluff up the top of the cube to cover the hole. Then I put them in my netpots with hydroton. Am I failing here and ruining the seeds or do you think it will work that way?

I don't know for sure man as I am new to this hobby myself. I did however germ a seed, put it in dirt, then transplanted that into an Aerogarden. What I did after a couple of days in dirt was wash off as much of the dirt off of the roots as I could. This was just an experiment but it worked and the plant is doing fine now.

you'll be fine, they will respond really well. i have one auto finishing up in a topfeed bucket, and another sitting in a rockwool cube waiting to get big enough for the bucket. i hate the rockwool plugs though, i just fill the hole in the cube with coco

I've done this too but it was with a clone that I had stuck in soil to compare that to using RW and it worked fine.

I just tried to cover the seed by 'fluffing' the top of the rw as I don't have plugs or coco. I think it got them covered but we'll see if it is enough I guess. Icut a hole in the middle of a paper plate and put it over the top of the netpots to try and keep the light off the rw until the seeds sprout and I can add some more hydroton. I really hope this works because I really want to try autos and I want to finish a DWC grow.

Update:
Roadrunner - DOB 9-24-2010

Think it was like 10-3-2010 that I mentioned it didn't grow a hair for like 5-6 days. It was looking sad. RR.jpg
Changed over from a MH conversion 250 watt bulb to the HPS that night. Around noon next day I had this - 10-4.jpg I figured it was modestly dramatic - LOL.
Add another 24 hrs. and here we were-10-5.jpg

After 48 hrs. - 10-6.jpg

And now (72hrs.)- 10-7.jpg

well, 'Taint saying it is,,, 'taint sayin it isn't, but I'm suspicious of that bulb on this plant. Was the only change made.
I think this is significant considering it just sat dormant with the Conversion bulb.
Tomorrow it has got to go into the CFL cab. No if / ands / or buts. I expect by morning I'll be hard pressed to find it and my others need to start changing from the 20/4 (required for the RR) slowly to 12/12. While the RR still get 20/4 to the end.
I'll have to try some lst & fim to make it fit when finished.
After the change of room I'll add another photo to show the set-up.
I'm really playing this by ear. First Auto. In my opinion, it's acting much differently than the other standards I've grown.

Never named a plant before. But have to nickname this one UGLY BETTY. :bigjoint:

Oh, and one of those leaves over by the 64? One I believe grew upside down. Heavy veins on the up side.

20/4 for the RR huh? I guess we'll get to see what an 18/6 will do cause I really want to keep Mable, my White Dwarf, on a consistent schedule.

After doing a quick search on Roadrunner I found out this about it. You were exactly right Canon.

Dinafem Feminised Roadrunner #2 Autoflowering Seeds

Cannabis plants are botanically listed into two major groups:
Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa.
Ruderalis is a sub-species of Sativa.
Broadly speaking, Indicas come from mountainous parts of Asia, Sativas come from damp jungles ... and Rudelaris?
Ruderalis originally comes from the region of Siberia and parts of eastern Europe and northern Asia, where hemp has been grown historically; populations of autoflowering seeds have regularly appeared in these and other regions, which suggests that Ruderalis populations come from diverse origins and that they spontaneously start growing in the wild thanks to the great variability inherent to this species.
What happens is that suddenly , in a place where hemp was grown for fibre or seeds, a particular plant left over from a population that’s gone wild shows a mutation that lets it flower earlier than all of the other plants.
Logically it spread very easily because it produced a lot more seeds, which quickly caught the eye of interested growers.
By crossing an automatic strain with our best parent, Dinafem #1, and stabilising the cross for a number of generations, we’ve come up with this surprising variety.
It’s capable of making amazing buds in in an absolutely unbeatable 60 days, making it perfect for balcony, garden or guerilla growing in midsummer.
It can be planted on May 15th and harvested on July 30th, getting you through the difficult month of August (on holiday and nothing to harvest!).
On the Mediterranean it can be planted from April to September and in northern Europe only from June 1st to August 15th.
For the best end results, it needs optimal growing conditions, specially in the first month; if not, the plants will be small.
They need 20 hours of light to grow at full speed, both indoors and outdoors; therefore, they grow more in June than in April.
For unlimited growth they also need a lot of substrate from the very beginning - 4 litres minimum, 20 maximum; the more soil the better.
The best thing is to plant the seeds in Jiffy-7 starters and as soon as they start, move the plants to their permanent pots.
Growing in hydroponic systems, like arlite, rockwool or coconut is also faster and makes bigger plants.
They need longer to finish flowering than when grown in soil because they grow a lot bigger and produce more flowers.
Too much moisture in the soil in the early stages of life is very harmful, so make sure they have good drainage or don’t overwater if soil grown.
The powerfulness of this Roadrunner Automatic

I still wonder if I have a strong gened Ruderalis throw back of some sort. (sure is ugly)
Plus,, how much damage could I've done to the grow with that MH. Sitting dormant for a week probably didn't help much.
This poor plant has been tortured so much already, I wouldn't blame it for giving up. But, I'm not done with it yet either - LOL. :bigjoint::-P

PS; These things must be hardy. If I'd blotched a sativa like that I'd probably be gone from the comp.

i'd leave it in there, if you switch it to cfls then you're just adding stress to a stressed plant. new growth is forming and it looks normal

You'd leave this one in there on 20/4, and stress / overshoot your height limits on the other 9 doing a FIM / LST / SOG combo? Which are doing really well by the way.

May feel stupid in the morning and see what I asked here.
But what the hell? That's why they call it "Dope". :bigjoint:

Never mind. :-(

Great post and my sentiments exactly. We got a bit carried away a page or two back, but it was all in good fun. We'll call it stoners being stoners. :) So far this has been fun and I've learned quite a bit.
Some of us honored the 1 entry only thing but some cant lose no matter what.

There's a nice variety of lights being used on the entries. It'll be nice to see how the harvests vary from setup to setup.

I've got a pic of the DWC setup in the thread that's in my sig (DWC is on page 7). Looks like they're both sprouting today so I'm pretty happy. Although now I need to decide what to about lighting for these two kids. Using t5HO lights right now with 6500K tubes.
