sunset 014.jpgsunset 013.jpgsunset 015.jpgI've been reading here and doing research on CFL grows and decided to go all out DIY-style. So here are my ladies 19 days into 12/12 flowering using 26cfl's 2600K/5600k at a 5:1 ratio. This is my first indoor grow. A week ago I purchased a 10w 3000k LED for supplemental penetration into the middle of the plant on the right just to see how it would work. I'm LST-ing to the best of my limited knowledge ...so we'll see what happens. Any useful feedback would be greatly appreciated.

LoL! First converted tub/shower i have seen! Bet it makes watering simple as can be. Looks great, you might want to raise your surge protector up above the plants to make sure you don't spill into it. Also, I would make sure that shelf is held very well, don't want everything to come crashing down. Really looks good though, good luck!

Just keep it going, don't worry and start thinking about improvements for your next grow.

Looks good so far! But to be honest, a single 400W HPS + MH kit costs about $150 with ballast and reflector hood and you get your vegging bulb and flowering bulb all in one package. And it only occupies 1 plug so you won't have a fire-hazard on your hands..

That's just my suggestion, but all-in-all your setup looks good :)

I love the twisting stems, eerie looking ;)

Plants look good man, but that lighting "rig" has me a little worried. I agree that if the funds arise, buy the ballast and hood. You'll sleep better & your plants will love you for it!!! LOL

Thanks guys. The surge was placed there for the pic. It is always on the mounting plate just outside the tub itself. And be assured that the "Arms" the wire shelf is on are siliconed into place. I wanted to see what results I could get on a complete DIY budget grow. I budgeted $300 for lighting, medium, nutrients, etc. So far, I've got $25 in the actual light fixtures, $40 in CFL bulbs, $5 in hardware, and $6 for the wire shelf. I bag of foxfarm also. I figure I'm about 4 weeks from harvest, and at $15 a month in electricity that's $45 for the entire grow in electricity cost. So yeh, I coulda went out a bought the best lighting, or even a grow cabinet. But then I'm a hands on lady. I like to do it myself, get good results, and be proud that even though I could of spent a lot more monies, I did not. And hopefully my results will be good enough for me.

see if you cant get something reflective to hang over the side that is exposed, unless you already do, there is a lot of wasted light right there, that you plants would like to have back. im sure you do as well, but if not get a fan blowing on those ladies. stay green.

Thanks dang. Hubby is working on a reflector, but we are waiting to see what this first set of ladies do, so we know what dimensions will work for it. I have a wall mounted fan over the throne that blows directly to the girls, I forgot to include the fan in the costs I already have.

sunset 014.jpgSo I guess I'm abosunset 013.jpgut 3 weeks if I'm lucky from harvest. Wed. will make a month of flowering. Can anyone tell me how the girls look according to yall's experience.sunset 015.jpg

Holy cfls. Plants look awesome but thats pretty crazy all those cfls and sockets. Same lighting could be achieved through less cfls and more reflection/capturing of the light, even DIY. Very impressive plants though. I'm already anticipating your next grow haha

I've put up mylar and reflective hood but had my but heat temps raise 10 degrees within 30 minutes, so...figured I'd see what happens without it. Figure if the ladies are more comftorable without all the heat, they'd be happier more forgiving ladies. I know I would be..lol

Ok, so I got mylar up, and a reflective hood. Mylar alone incresed my temps to 82 and the hood had me up to 90 in minutes, so removed hood and left mylar in place. Never had any heat issues at all before, so am I trying too many lights? I thought the more the better right? Maybe I need to decrease wattage, help :(
