How many people die each year from Drowning?
How many people die each year from slip and falls?
How many people die each year from Electrocution?
How many people die each year from Tobacco?
How many people die each year from Alcohol?
How many people die each year in Wars?
How many people die each year from Homicide?
I could go on and on and on with examples of things that kill FAR MORE people than food borne illnesses. Why don't we have Bills in congress to control all of those things I listed? I mean if Homicide kills approx 20 times more people than Food and homicide is illegal, then I would have to say that by making some food illegal you will actually start killing the people you think it would save. There are always unintended consequences to Govt intervention, and you think that Gov't is benevolent and has nothing but good intentions. The opposite is true whether you want to wake up and believe it or not.

Drowning:
Many states have regulations that make pool owners surround their pool with a fence to help prevent drownings. There are also laws in place requiring that life vests be on board boats.
Slipping and falling:
OSHA has many rules that help prevent those deaths.
Electrocution:
Many OSHA laws and state laws regulating electricity and electricians to help prevent electrocution.
Tobacco:
Federally mandated warning labels saying it will kill you.
Alcohol:
The FDA is banning an alcoholic beverage right now. Obviously there are regulations.
Wars and homicide:
really? There are laws on the books about those too.
Face it, we are all sheep. Some of us are just in different flocks.

Hell...as long as regulation is good...why not mandate how, when and where you can make love to your wife??? What to feed your dog??? What kind of lightbulbs you use.
Just because regulation exists does not mean that more is better in all cases.
Some cultures stone people or cut off hands for moral crimes...maybe we should expand this also???
You can not say certain things in certain places...it makes us safer...would not more restrictions on speech make us safer?
Gangsters use certain weapons in their crimes...how about house to house searches?

Fences do not stop people from drowning, if you believe that you are being fooled. Fences stop people from falling into pools. A fence around a pool will not prevent a swimmer in that pool from drowning. A fence around a pool will not prevent a Alaskan fisherman from drowning in the Bering sea. Same with Tobacco, Everyone knows its bad for you, I quit years ago. I don't need a label telling me it might cause problems, the morning hack I woke to every day told me that.

What are your civil liberties? Do they include the right to say NO to unelected bureacracies ?
