I cant imagine you on vacation and coming back to the UC system and realizing that it would drink 300 gallons of water and your plants would be all dead and dry and pumps overheated from no water too. That would be expensive.

You have to visit a UC system every 2 or 3 days unless you have a MONSTER sized reservoir (the plants drink all day long, and they use 1/3 of nutrient strength instead of full).

How will you combat future vacations?

Some of us don't take long vacations and with auto doser's and auto fill you can skip a few days. Sad thing is anyone of us who grow large could have a failure and come back after 3 days and it's all crap. IF my CAP room controller failed or AC failed or a 12" fan failed.

No matter how you grow if a critical system fails you could have a disaster.

You might want to hop over to THC farmer and have a look at the under current, I'm impressed by the weight to plant ratio. This is important to med growers as we only can grow so many plants, but they don't say how big. Two pounds a plant is very good to say the least. Nice to see innovation in growing.

A +++ Customer Service, Plus talking to Daniel is a real treat as he is a damn wealth of info, and he takes time to help anyone who asks. The Guys over at groovy are cool as hell, there the only ones who sell the hydrofungicide in the US that doubleds used on those 4 pound monsters.
GroovyHydro Gets a A+++, he recently wrote some amazing tidbits of info And I will share with you guys later, I think its a reason why people get the DWC syndrome.

Im kinda glad I get to wait until I get home before firing up a few hundred gallons of water. =)

The Under Current comes jammed packed with everything you need, just supply a container of your choice for a top of rez, and drill a hole(well almost everything you will need a bit).
The system comes with a sick adapter, and a uniseal so once you drill the hole you just attach it to the system, the system has a float valve which will top off the system auto, if I had an intelidose shit Id be rocking!,

Ill be using a 50 gallon water container, but may need to upgrade to a larger top of res in the future if Ill be away for longer stays, but yeah they def got you set up for sucess, I don't even know what half the parts are called if I was to try and source them myself, LOL.

Yeah the pharm is cool, read most every thead about MPB, and UCs and post there a bit too.But I like RIU a lot myself, so thought I would share here as well since nobody is really rocking the system, plus some of these cats need some guidance, got newbs aruging with each over which was has the "best"(worst) advice., whats better flashlights or leds, and the best way to recycle their urine..

You have to love RIU for the entertainment factor.

In all honesty most people either do really great in the UC, or fail pretty hard. Lots of 2 and 3 lb trees if each plant gets 4 thousands watts. not a lot of room in the middle.

Im def going to be picking daniels brain, and sharing any info he gives me with the rollitup crew.

This should be a pretty sick scrog, im going to keep on top of the training BIG TIME!.

Well after reading what you posted and than doing my homework, most from the farm I ordered a UC8XL13. I can't believe the yield people are getting. I'm a dirt farmer but am limited to the # of plants so this is going to be great. I started 4 different types for when it gets here. Thanks for the info...

Congrats! Please, do start a grow journal and let me know when its up. The XL13's are gigantic **GIGANTIC** trees. Only 2 plants per 1000w lamp, so your system holds 8 plants that will yield probably around 8+lbs.

I sent daniel a ton of questions, when he gets back to me tomorrow ill post them up, from bennies to sterile, teas, ph, and about anything else I could think of, he is one cool cat.
I can honestly say after I got the system all put together, looking at it I gota say its the best system on the market, has a couple little flaws but F*&$ cherry all and all.

I would love to do a straight sog with hundreds of plants, but this way I get to stay within the legal limits of my state, that peace of mind is PRICELESS to me.

Once we got our journals rocking lets get an undercurrent group popping over here on RIU, Ill be posting at the farm too, but really only to get a critique from the pros.

TK just started another UC over there. That guy must have 6 or 7 systems now. Be cool to have him a s a neighbor. I can't believe that him and Jack are just killing it 2.5 per plant in the small ones.

He's back in Denmark working his Tulips. We had a real blowout and he figured he'd had enough of the States.
He's trying like hell to patch things up but it's like I told him, a brother ain't no brother at all when a brother does another bad.
specially when it's twins.

He's on my stink list and is not coming off it for some time.

Other than that all is good. Labs are rocking and keeping me busy.
Thinking I have to harvest one or two girls this week. still trying to figure out
a camera a pal gave me and it's being a biotch. White balance is off in the Flower lab and all shots come out yellowish.

Anyone working with a Sony Cybershot? Give me some tips?

Yeah, Although If someone was to buy an undercurrent I would recommend getting the 3 inch piping, seen a couple clogs with the 2" over at the farm.
Jack does kill it, but man 4 thousand watts on each plant its pretty intense ahha. My whole grow is only going to be 3000watts, hope I don't bore anyone here

My major concern with this type of system is that if one plant or bucket develops a problem the problem is spread system wide.

In Flower I only put two plants max in each 120 qt cooler. If a problem pops up it is localized and wont spread.

We did this one DIY a few years back and found it troublesome.

But remember, we're Danish and have a hydro fixation.

Igloo's make my life so much easier I can never go back.

But good on ya MM. Like I said, I'm eyeballing this one.

I know exactly what you mean boom,
I have done standalone bubbles buckets/tubs a few times in the past, and that is my fav thing about them, that if one plant does happen to get sick the others are not contaminated.
But standalone buckets/tubs are always going to be more work than a recirculating system.

I do have a good idea on how to combat this problem though, at least for my situation.

I am only legal to have four plants flowering, and I can have 12 large plants not flowering.

So I will be starting twelve clones in bubble buckets, and the 4 with the healthiest happiest looking root mass goes into the system.
I think I have figured out why DWC/RDWC folks have the occasional death without cause syndrome.
I just came to the realization over the last couple weeks(after putting pieces of the puzzle together for quite awhile.)

I think you could say that about any system that plants share food. I have been growing for a long time and the only issues I have ever had are bugs and I know how do deal with them. There are a number of products you can run to prevent root issues so not to worried.

I'm thinking of using GH for food?

If one plant in a UC system gets root rot, the fact that the UC system is pumping HUNDREDS of gallons of the same water through the small network of pots every hour means the root rot would spread very quickly.

In an Ebb & Grow bucket system as an example, it would take the root rot more time to make its way through the hoses and to other plants via the tubing or re-runs with the reservoir. You should in theory notice a problem with one plant before it infected the others a few days later.
