hey guys, so im 4 weeks in to flower and got about 4 ahead of me. one of my plants has started showing orange pistils yesterday. now, i know this is probably a bad idea but i have seen some growers on youtube clipping "sample buds" to watch under the microscope (like its not possible to do that when the bud is connected to the plant lol they just wanna smoke it).

now, in my country you can only buy the shittiest weed known to man - there is even no talk about strains its only regular weed (schwag) and "hydro" which refers to any type of above the average weed.

so my question - from when exactly can i take a "sample bud" to smoke? will it get me high at this point? and will it stress my plant in a big way? my trichs are obviously clear but theres a lot of them on all the buds...

if you are truly "greedy" than you will know via research that the majority of bud development (thc production) takes place in the LAST 4 weeks not the first...but at the end of the day if the weed around you is THAT shitty then you will probably get much higher from a premature bud homegrown than anything you could possibly purchase

It sounds to me as if though you may end up having a tough time weighing out the pro's and con's haha, but you will definitely get more bang for your buck/time/energy/ and risks implemented by letting your entire girl finish the whole life cycle....

I will close with the analogy of a baby...we have had successful pre-mature births, but they are never (i'll go with rarely just because I wouldn't be surprised to see research which supports otherwise) compare to a baby which went full-term... Marijuana is not much different.

Whenever you like, then you'll have the experience to know when it is not and is semi-viable should you really need a smoke :D

sounds like you got some good weed around your neighbourhood :D imagine the luxuary of hydro, we just have "kush mate, yeah mate, kush mate!" by which they mean they have bollock all clue and it's underweight :D

but i would wait til its done... if you're growing right, then it will be so worth it in the end. just keep smoking that schwag.. becuase that first bowl off your stuff will throw you into tomorrow.. lol!

what i do is wait until i see some cloudy trics and then sample from one of the smallest buds. it takes a week for me to be able to tell if id get that high off it cause it has to dry and slightly cure. i just did this with one of my widows and it came on like creeper....still needs more time. you might try perpetual growing so as to have smoke constantly getting cut.

If I'm out then I'll start sampling the bottom buds when I see at least a couple cloudy trichomes. That's really only because clear trichs give me panic attacks sometimes. I've raped more than a few plants in my time and come harvest I sometimes have a plant that looks totally pathetic from picking at it. Is it a waste? Yes. But sometimes you just need a rip to take the edge off.

Pluck, put oven on low, put bud on foil, place in oven with door cracked. In a few minutes FIRE IT UP. Fuck it.

ok so im gonna wait until i cant anymore :) possibly in a week i will sample a bud - one question though - will it cause enough stress to hermie it? thanks for the advice guys and +rep :)

I've gone to town on some plants and even harvested just the top part of the plant so the bottom can ripen more (I flower with fluoros). Never had a problem. I've read that as long as you don't strip more than half of the growth then the plant should be okay. But then again, people reveg plants (something I've never tried), and don't seem to have hermie problems AFIK.

I feel you brother. Just look at the big picture. At least you got some growing and can rest assured that EVENTUALLY you'll be schmokin' and tokin' like nobody's business.

Always half full. Always half full. It's hard, but you gotta try.

i would wait until a lil past 6 weeks, closer to 7. remember that once flowering is done ur job isnt done, because it still has to dry and cure. drying and curing increases potency astronomically. so ur kind of doing urself a disservice because even at 7 weeks the strain is not close to what it could be in terms of potency. also, its quite wet at that time, some ppl stick it in the microwave or oven for a quick dry if they want to sample.
i personally think u should try to hold off no matter how tempting it is!
