I'll never see that G again. Bought four Kessil MAGENTA (at least they started out that way) that I bought thinking they could enhance flowering but I'll never know because now they only emit a red. So much for a magenta spectrum.

Watch what these guys do toward the last minute of this video. After seeing this I think I'm going to do a little experiment on my Kessil's but I don't think I'll be putting my hand in the tank.

so............... does anyone else thing this looks like the reactor from iron man? anyway i love this tech and encountered it at college back in my optics days. It's cool to see it move so far in so little time. These will eventually pair with led and HID lighting will then cease to become as concrete with credibility.

my lights didnt get in so im not sure my yield can be saved at this point. They are 39 day old short rider autoflowers and i think nirvana gave me some lanky genetics so i wont be shopping there again for autos..... tell me what you think about my ladies..... I wonder if i get my lights tomorrow if the 2 240w panels can save this in the last couple of weeks. They are now trained to take up 1.5 strength nutes every feeding with the fox farm liquid lineup plus molasses.

Weak light makes them lanky cause they stretch looking for better light so I wouldn't think genetics were a factor in this one.

L.E.D lighting is THE BEST supplemental lighting imo, But I personally wouldn't use them as a primary source of light.

I also have plenty of cfl supplementing on this........... I have 100w per plant of combined light in there.

so the leaves/buds are bleaching. Is this normal with LEDs? will it effect the quality at all. Thanks
It seems with some good LED lights you can't get it too close or it will bleach them, Spectras are so strong that Mike who designed them says you shouldn't get much closer than 12-14 inches although some have gone as low as 8 inches without bleaching.

I have a cheap 120W chinese panel and this happened at 8-9 inches away........

Wow. I have been keeping mine about 4 inches away until recently. The bleaching has just started though. I guess I will raise the light to about 8 inches or so. Hopefully the growth rate will still be good. I am using a Lighthouse Hydroponics 90w UFO by the way. Thanks for the input.

I have two pretty successful 2 plant grows using a UFO 90, supplementing with CFLs. I realized I needed more light to stop the stretching and to produce denser buds.

I started researching LEDs in the 200 watt range. Then I stumbled upon a thread about Quantum Bad Boy HO T 5; the 8 bulb is ~ 400 watts. It does not put out radiant heat like HPS/MH, but unlike LEDs it is not a throw away. I can change bulbs as they lose intensity or burn up. Also, I can play Sun God and mix bulbs to simulate spring planting through harvest light spectrums. Price with 16 bulbs $350, which is what I paid for my UFO 90 2 years ago. hth

Holy fucking shit I can't believe I read all 221 pages! After all that I decided to go with the 357 magnum for a 3x3 space. Will flower one plant of each of these strains NYSD and ww that I'm seeing under fluorescent and been LST'ed. Will arrive in 2 weeks just in time for the ladies to go into flower.

Whats up fellas, I read through this thread a few days ago and since have read other threads and manufacters websites. I want to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge. I think I have it narrowed down to what I want for a 6X6 area although I could still change my mind. The blackstars looked pretty good , awsome prices and specs but did not find 1 good documented grow and they only have a 1 year warranty, to risky for me. The 357 Magnums looked allright but I thought they were a little pricy for what they are. I dont understand why there called 357s when they are really only 160W. $700 for a 160W, Naw. The ProGrows also looked good and I think they would be my second choice. The lights that won me over were the Spectras. I found documented grows with these lights that were killer(irishboy) so I know for sure that they can grow big buds. Their lights are real pricy but I figured if a got 4 of the 120s which are really using 180Ws apiece I would get some good coverage. They would cost under $1600 and have a five year warranty.
