Ok since my first attempt on indoor growing went to shit i thought i would try again. This time im going stealth. First i took the drawers out of a small 3 drawer dresser and painted the inside of it flat white. Then while that was drying i had to make a hood for my cfls so i took a shoe box cut it up and painted the underside flat white. i plan on putting a exhaust and intake fan in tomorrow. For the lights i have 2x40 some watt cfls 2700 lumens each. i have about 6 more in case i need them. i already have my seeds germinated and in their pots and waiting patiently for them topop up so i can cutthe lights on. Oh and im using soil and manual watering. i do not plan on flowering in here i already have the closet setup from last attempt.

Does anyone think i will need more light or should this be enough for 2 plants???????

Here are some pics of the setup

keep the lights very close to the plants. it will strecth and will grow slowly otherwise.put your hand under the light. if it burns your hand, move it lower. if you can hold your hand there,(without it burning)it is safe for your plants. cfls dont get very hot, and they can be as close as you want. having it far away is just a waste of time

That shoebox lid being used for a reflector is a terrible idea, you do realize just how flamable cardboard is,right??

After a while the constant heat will have that thing dried out & brittle, just waiting to go poof.

I would swap those 2700K bulbs out for 5500-6500K Bulbs. They def make a difference and in veg u want high spectrum to simulate summer time sun.

Cool set up!

you need 6500k for veg, 2700k for flowering, and more light for flowering is essentail, other wise, good job, hope you get some fat bitches

spectrum doesnt have to exact just around those would be okay too no?

also ive seen some ppl use red lights in their grow, does that shit really work?

hmm...

No because its not the light color which the plant is getting the light energy from. That is gauged in the temperature scale(Kelvin). In the peak of summer the sun radiates more "daylight" spectrum in the 5000-8000 Kelvin range, and in the fall to winter it is in the lower Kelvin scale most of the day This light is warmer and in the 2000-3000 Kelvin scale range. However peak day allows some daylight light to come through for a little while. So when using CFLs you use mostly "daylight" spectrum to simulate spring/summer light. And in the fall winter stage "flower" we simulate that time of the year so a mixed spectrum shoud be used with mostly "warm lights" and a few "daylight" lights.

Here is a chart to help better understand:
