there's no missions. but there's checklists and stuff that you're supposed to go through during start-up, taxi, take-off, climb-out, cruising, descent, approach and landing...... it can be pretty fun if you start messing with the malfunctions, fires, etc.... you can set them to go off randomly during flight....I'm not a pilot but I've tried a few flight simulators including FSX and I just can't get used to the controls lol....I mean on some of them the controls are so authentic you almost have to be real licensed pilot to really get into the game.
fsx is pretty good. add on the ultimate traffic + military traffic add-ons and it's pretty inmersive... you do need a good rig tho...I enjoyed FS95 when i was young, i tried FSX but didn't enjoy it too much, give me a good fight flight sim and i'm game though zooooom
yea I would probably get into it also if I have a little bit of real pilot training I guess. don't have to worry about me wrecking the plane though, on some of them I couldn't even figure out how to turn on the engines.there's no missions. but there's checklists and stuff that you're supposed to go through during start-up, taxi, take-off, climb-out, cruising, descent, approach and landing...... it can be pretty fun if you start messing with the malfunctions, fires, etc.... you can set them to go off randomly during flight....
i'm no pilot, i have 3 lessons, about 13 hrs.
looks like the game really is that boring.... fuckit...i like it....
Isn't there supposed to be a new microsoft sim out soon? Microsoft Flight ? you know anything about that one?fsx is pretty good. add on the ultimate traffic + military traffic add-ons and it's pretty inmersive... you do need a good rig tho...
i have. a lot of simmers i know are kind of hating on it b/c of some complicated shit... i have nothing else to do right no so here goes:Isn't there supposed to be a new microsoft sim out soon? Microsoft Flight ? you know anything about that one?
that's why there's checklists. FSX has simple checklists (not for real flight) that can be printed out and kept handy. An example of a checklist is:Thanks for that info. I'm thinking of installing this new flight game when it comes out and dedicating a little more time to learn more about the actual flight controls this time. I have a cheap Saitek flight stick which makes it a little easier, but those landings can be a nightmare when you are really trying to keep it realistic. Not to mention all the other stuff that goes along with real flying like reading maps and knowing how to get to certain airports once you are in the air. I can understand your friends that do not like to refer to it as a game because it really does take a higher level of skill then a casual gamer to really know what your doing.
I'm here!I'm surprised Socata hasn't been in this thread yet
My top addon's... hmmm!finally.... what would you call the top 4-5 add ons...??
i'm looking for a good add-on DC 10...
i've got a while to go to finish customizing my FSX. i don't want to give up FPS though... a lot of traffic packages drains performance... you think the world of AI packages drains the FPS or not??My top addon's... hmmm!
Well the aircraft I use mostly are the PMDG MD-11, and 747. The LSH Maddog 2008, and the Level-D 767, all of which are available for both FS2004 and FSX.
As for must haves, OrbX NA Blue scenery packages (www.fullterrain.com), Real Environment Extreme, Ground Environment, Ultimate Terrain, and of course, the World of AI packages, and MAIW packages as well.
I use Flight Simulator to simulate, so I tend to stay away from freeware aircraft (although I have many) usually, and go for the payware aircraft that are highly complex...
Now, as for your DC-10... I suggest waiting for this: http://www.xsimulate.net/products/DC10/index.html
