How are the pups doing? Been misting them? I have trouble transitioning from the humidity chamber to the reg. grow environment myself. Usually can use them to sex, but beyond that I haven't had much luck. I think my rooting solution is too old as they never really take off.

We've made some progress. Rockwool and clones seem to work well together. All the clones that were placed in rockwool have roots exposed through the bottom of the rockwool. One of the plants that I took clones from turned out to be male so I took the clones apart to examine their rooting. The clones in rockwool had considerably more root growth. None of the plants in peat pellets compared in terms of root growth.

The first male was pulled and cut. It was great to examine the root system that developed in 6 weeks in the hempy bucket. I pulled one solid slab out of the can.

The Ak mama got a transplant into a 4 gallon square pail. She seems happy.

Plants are growing great. The stretch kicked in. I'm trying to keep the light super-close to slow growth. They also received another fan, both fans are on high.

What do ya think?

I misted them every other day. It seems like it was enough. The plants in rockwool are rooting through the bottom. :)

I used Olivia's with a bath of superlight nutes and some rooting hormone thrown in for good measure.

Thanks for asking! The rootball pics above were pretty cool for hempy. The root base was far more dense than I imagined.

Here a few pics of the difference in root formation between rockwool and jiffy pellets. As you can tell, the roots in the rockwool are much better formed. I'll be buying rockwool cubes in bulk on Monday. Awesome!

The lonely journal continues...

4 of the 5 plants in flower are ladies :)

3 of the clones are growing vertical as well as rooting. They were transplanted into some ghetto milk jugs (painted black). Added 3 inches of perlite before adding the mix.

I also threw a cucumber plant and a tomato into hempy cups....Why not?

The grow area is looking full. It's time for another tent.

im just about be starting my hempy grow when my beans arrive. 5 pack femmed NYPD NY purple diesel. But im going 80/20 coco hydroton. Hempy buckets ftw
Yes I will be starting a journal I went with barneys blue cheese just got them today. I'm waiting on my fan and tent then will be setting up soon.

Subbing to see how your harvest goes. Also my nutes will be lucas formula flora nova bloom and epsom salt.

Hey Gird, do you use the large or small perlite?... oh wait, I see where you indicate it is the larger stuff.

Also dio you transplant from small to larger containers or start to finish one bucket?
Hey Oog, looking forward to your grow. Each plant from seed was started in jiffy pellets, then moved to 14 oz styrofoam cups, then to 3-4 gallon containers. The clones are going straight from cloning area into 1 gallon containers for a try @ sog. I'll try to update pics later tonight.

Hey Gird, do you use the large or small perlite?
I use the largest perlite and vermiculite that I can find. In theory, more space for air is better. I used one bag of small vermiculite in one bucket. The only bucket that small vermiculite was used in has drainage problems (water pools due to less space for water flow). The small vermiculite acts live a vertical dam causing pooling above the restriction...hope that makes sense. That problem hasn't been noticed in any buckets that use larger verm/perl.

Blue Cheese sounds like a good strain. I'll sub the journal!

I saw you say multiple holes? Like instead of one pencil sized hole. You go with say 3 at 1/3 the size of a pencil? Or just 3 pencil sized holes?

The first 3 bins were drilled 3/4" with the bottom of the hole around 2" from the bottom. Aquaseal was used to attach a screen to the inside of the bin. These screens were clogged within a couple of weeks so I pushed them in from the bottom.

The perlite/vermiculite wasn't thoroughly rinsed prior to going into the bins. That may be a factor.

So, why not try drilling 3 holes on two sides of the container, 6 in total (random number was pulled out of the air). The idea was that outflow could be easily determined from more smaller diameter holes and it wouldn't take a few extra hours to let the aquaseal set properly.

The smaller holes require infrequent prodding with a toothpick or similar.

While I had the drill out, I went around the entire rim of the bins and drilled holes a couple of inches apart. That seemed like a simple to follow catch-most for LST. I ended up using those holes during the LST of the two random Nirvana strains. The benchseed also received a hole or two for tying it down.

Took some of your advice even though you threw out a random number i went with 3 holes per side of waste bin, And it drained pretty decent. I did not drill holes for LST, I will wait to try cloning and a Mother.

So anxious to see how your ladies have grown, But I will be PMing you a link to my journal as soon as it gets starts.

My fan and tent are still being delayed through the mail. I should have it all this upcoming week, But then temp testing and I am leaving the 7th for a 4 day trip so I have to delay a little longer then come back and get started.

OG, is your trip for pleasure or business? I'd be stoked to sub your journal.

Cloning was easy. One of these, a humidity dome, some olivia's cloning gel, a snip, pull, and slice. 100% on first try:clap:

Plants are looking great. Here are the updated pics:

Unbelievably, the clone with the hair on top has roots shooting out of the rockwool @ 5 days. She's going straight into a hempy bucket and straight back to flower. :)

The 3 clones in gallon jugs are now on 12/12 in the flower tent. Ak 48 Mama will get topped and cloned this evening as well.

I bent the tops on the bagseed as it was getting too tall. It may kill or stunt the plant. It was getting too tall. We'll see how that effects the plant.

All in all, the grow area is looking superb. I couldn't be happier. As this is all for a personal stash/hobby, I'll be happy with 2 or 3 ozs. Anything more than that will go into budder, green dragon, and hash. Green dragon is new to me (I think) and it sounds like a nice addition to an entertaining evening.

An ounce a month, more than I consume now, is my goal. I'm hoping that goal will be realized in about 6 or 7 weeks but definately by Independence Day.

If Ooganomix is the only person reading this journal than I'll cut it off now and PM with Oog.

Cheers

my trip is to visit a family member who is very ill, but just got my inline fan in the mail today got a lucky bonus Some Supernatural nutrients as a gift, Terra Bloom and Super Bloom. so from what i read in the book i got im thinking of trying the super bloom to help seedlings/clones take off. I SHOULD get my hydro hut this weekend or the start of next week.

Mine will to be a personal hobby/stash but I am gonna enroll into Caregiver courses this fall.

Good health wishes for your family member. Alaska has no penalty for 25 or less plants in your home as long as you are not selling. Is the caregiver course offered through the state?

Thanks psychild. The contrast in the two plants was worth sharing. I can't wait to try the flowers off of both plants and compare. The hash plant was topped Uncle Ben style and the indica required a bit of LST'ing to get the canopy to the same height.

no, caregiver class are not offered by the state the school claims to certify on the same level as Oaksterdam University, but my school says theres 3 schools with the certification level they give which are Some school in colorado green wind or something OU in washington, and MedGrow in Michigan.

My state says all plants are illegal, But this november we get to vote if we decriminilize medical marijuana so patients who got pulled over and what not wouldnt suffer any actions against them.

Good luck on the legal front. Swaying folks' opinion takes work.

I'm using this board as a reference tool. Coupled with the Medical Marijuana Bible, my brown thumb is slowly turning less brown :)
