That looks beautiful. I assume those are 5 gal buckets, so do you run about 1 plant per square foot under the 400w?
thanks NG.......they are 5 gal. My space is 3x6 feet, so each 400W occupies a 3x3 space, so four plants in a square.......4 in 9 sq.ft....or 2.25 sq. ft per plant. as far as wattage, 44.44 watts per sq.ft. i am trying to get every inch out of my space without breaking down and going scrog. i like to be able to pull my plants out to give them some love, and being in soil........so just trying hard to get a blanket of bud in my little 3x6 space.

at harvest, i will lollipop one so we can see exactly how the colas lined up, with no leaf matter in the way. looking forward to it....about four more weeks!
i just hope they yield between 2 and 2.5 oz. per.......so far it looks like they are well on their way.

This is what the girls look like just five days after the "crack"....it is amazing how fast they respond.:leaf:Nugs:leaf:

17 days after the crack, they are huge and root-bound........tonight they will be totally cut back, clones taken, root pruned, re-potted with mycorrhizae inoculated soil, and reset to veg for flower in three to four weeks.

In deed I will. Please do some step by step pics if you can. You root prune and re-pot into the same size pots, or bigger?

I am going to try and use your techniques to help with my ccob style training I am trying to perfect for my perpetual garden. I have been vegging about 7 weeks, but really would like to start spreading it to a longer veg and this type of trimming/pruning above the soil, and root pruning below the soil, may be the missing link. I am using smart pots currently, but the combination of the 2 and potting up from #1, #2, #3, instead of like I do right now from #1 to #3 before flower might be beneficial to my root/soil system, and I can get a longer veg probably.

:leaf:alright, here are a few snaps of the operation....they look pretty fucked right now, but in two weeks they will look real nice again, with stimulated roots, and fresh new canopy!:leaf:

the root ball was a two gallon pot size, after cutting on the root ball with a serrated bread knife, the root ball was only about the size of a 1/2 gal pot if that gives an idea of how much to remove. you really dont need to leave much, the plant will not even wilt!

I agree. I was using DIY 3ga Air-Pails but now use #3 smart pots because they dry out between waterings much quicker than the plastic pails with holes would. I veg in #1's and transplant to #3's a week or 2 before flower and then do my training. They look amazing when they come out of the #1's for transplant.

thats funny, i just ordered some 25 gallon smarties for outside this season, looking forward to trying them out. the main reason i like my buckets, is stacking them to even out canopies. plus i don't like to have to water more than once every 5-7 days. they don't seem to outgrow 5 gallon pots. its just when you are keeping moms in a small space, they bind up in their small containers......there was a bonzai mom sticky on here somewhere, and it was some of the best information i have ever learned when it comes to how incredible the ganja plant is, and what it can handle and respond to as far as training and root-pruning....just an unbelievable plant all around!

I bought a couple #5 smart pots to try out but haven't up-canned anything into one yet. My thought was I would veg in # 2 (instead of #1) and flower in #5 (instead of #3). I have a few #2's I used previously so I need to give that a shot on my next seeds I am germ'ing now.
