New to Grow Journal

Hey man :)
'Thread tools'
First off all I've done is experimental with a lot of reading and learning and a lot of errors...
I had 6 plants in a 2X3 tray for 80 days.
I had to cut the tray away and slide the root community off all at once lol
I added root drench and B-1 for the stress.
My flower box is 4X4X8 the table is 4X8
The roots since flower transfer now cover a 6' square area.
Only pruning was on fan leaves that were to fall anyway.
Not true... I did snip a leaf here and there mostly from the bottom.
I am now slowly tying off (lst) some of the cola's as they are pushing my light up to fast.
A little bend here and there :)

Wow I really like the DIY cabinets you made and I'm jealous of your 1000 watt cool tube (I went with a 400 watt adjust a wing). I think I went with tents because I'd like the ability to easily tear them down and set them up again. Yea the pics you saw from the other thread had some fairly major LSTing done. I'd say at least a foot or so of grow room since I was getting worried about them burning when I went out of town for 5 days. Now in the new tent I cut the strings off; they look awkward all bent around but no worse for the wear I guess. I have to keep an eye on their vertical growth now since I'll be out of town again next week for 5 days again.

The cool tube rocks at 1000W hps I only feel heat at about 3-4 inches from center!
without the cool tube that would be 12 to 16 inches !
I also have to be careful now of vert growth as I am starting to add Gravity 1/4 strength..
I really think I would like to look into tents as well in the future for their flexibility and ability to move and set up quickly
Or one of my sons will move out and I will get a complete private grow room !! lol

I built mine like a shit-brickhouse lol! (just the way I am hehe)
I wonder about tents for soundproofing though??
My solid boxes are fairly quiet with heaps of ventilation!

Yea I wish I would have gotten an air cooled reflector. I liked the light coverage of the adjust a wing but when I first set it up I had a day of high 80 temps (@ 32 Celsius). I ended up ducting some air from an AC unit into the tent which I'd rather not have.

What is Gravity? I just switched from using the GH Micro/Bloom Lucas Formula to Dynogrow line of nutes which I've read is a complete, balanced nutrient schedule (only 3 bottles!). I'm on the 2nd day so far and it seems to be doing great.

Tents aren't great for soundproofing although the speaker I have in there cannot be heard when the tent is sealed. My flower tent is quite loud just due to the exhaust fan but I fortunately had a spare room so when the door is closed you can hardly hear it. I just have a 170 CFM Vortex fan with a carbon filter in there; seems to work just fine though I may upgrade to a slightly larger fan. For my old tent which I converted into a mother tent I'm going to get a Panasonic Whisperline inline fan and make my own scrubber for it. I've heard they're super quiet which would be needed since the mother tent is in my room.

Gravity flower hardener reports are dangerous but beneficial lol
I add a few additives like bud candy also.
All a balancing act ppm's ph etc
I love this shit lol

Damn nice job on the cab .... that should serve you well for years to come . Iv'e been thinking about making one tall one and splitting it between veg. and flower . You just helped me inch a little closer to it

good luck on the dank :weed:

Recap on the nutes and stuff:

In vegging I used Summum (local hydro shop brand) Growth 1+2. 1 = 3-0-4 and 2 = 1-3-5.
I also add a B-1 tonic. I use Bushdoctor kangaroots early on, on the seedlings and then when I transferred from the veg cab to the flowering cab.
Flowering = again Summum, bloom 1=2 4-0-4 & 1-4-4.
I also add Summum super boost, bud candy, shooting powder and just today I was convinced to get gravity flower hardener.
I made a few bottles of diy co2 using drink bottles from the dollar store and some brewing co2 water diffusers (using the yeast and sugar recipe).
Don't know if they add much but any is better than none
Maybe i'll look into the tank and timer and all one day..

Thanks man!
After this grow I will take a break and revamp everything to maximize! I have a lot of waste and mistakes to correct but I am damn happy so far lol

Hehe, I did the whole CO2 thing too with a 2 liter pop bottle. I may go the same route in future grows or I might just figure out a solid way of doing the baking soda/vinegar route. What's the cost of those Summum nutes? I specifically chose Dynogrow after reading homebrewer's journal. I like the simplicity of it as well as the fact that it's cheaper and more complete than many nute brands out there.

Damn just read through the whole grow and I'm loving it man. You are growing some monsters in there, I'm jealous. Sucks not being able to share you love/hardwork/passion with anyone around you huh? Smoke on brother.

Not too bad, I pay 50$ cdn. for 1 gallon of each 1+2

Yeah it does! Most of the time being passionate about something and sharing that passion with those around you go hand in hand. But not in this case...

I got right down into the bottom of my forest :) to do some weeding and took a few shots of the main stems or tree trunks as I like to call them hehe
The largest is 7/8 of an inch in diameter and the smallest is 1/2"
Still getting a 1/2 inch to inch growth (in height) per day.
The largest is now 41 inches tall.
I had to stick my head right up between them to get to the back and after pulling out my face, feels kind of itchy! I guess it's the resin. I've got resin head! haha

You need to flush your head thoroughly since I think you might have nute burn lol. Man those are some impressive looking stems. I haven't measured any of mine but they are thicker than I'd have imagined prior to growing. I did measure one of my ladies (from the bathroom flower room) and she's at 3 feet now. I think and hope that most of my girls have slowed vertical growth in order to focus on bud production (today will be day 27 of flowering). My main tent girls might be taller but they've had to go some minor LSTing to avoid the lights. Man you're going to have a monster crop there KS. What's your plan on harvest and drying/curing btw?

Flush my head for nute burn LMAO!
Day 18 of flowering for me.
I am hoping for mine to stop growing vertically at around 5 feet.
I am going to lst more on the next grow.
Well for harvest, drying and curing I think I will continue with what has been working for me so far= read read read & learn the best ways and follow the veterans advice.
I'm doing this for me and not to sell so I will deff want to cure it right so it will last. The preferred method after drying appears to be jar burping but more research to be done :)

Yea I definitely will be pruning more on my next grow as my girls' horizontal growth made it too crowded for my tastes.
My next grow will be all clones so hopefully I have at least some skill in cloning.
I was thinking that you'd make a "drying closet" so was eager to see how you'd go about it :). For me I have a perfect location set up but it seems to be a bit dry for my taste (wanting @ 40 % humidity).

The drying closet is an idea as I have two closets in the grow area.....
I have lots of time to think about it.

Of course you could just use one of your closets as a drying closet as well. I'd planned on setting up a semi perpetual grow. Have the mother/clone room set up and a flower room(s) as well.

I'm eager to start on the cloning process but I have a couple more weeks before I would want to start them so they are able to start flowering immediately after my first harvest.

My only worry with my closets that I could use is they are on an inside wall where other residents (condo building) can walk by I have to make sure odors can escape there lol

My first idea was the perpetual grow with mother and clones but now I am not sure.
I get bored of the same thing quick.
I might try more, to get the right yield and right timing to start from seeds each time and try different strains all the time.
Also a break in between grows is good for keeping the grow cabs clean and bug and disease free.
I'm good with about an ounce a month (maybe a bit more..)
Two-three grows a year will be great for me.

Yea at the moment my mother has no sort of odor control so when I walk into my house I get a pretty big whiff of MJ. I honestly didn't think it'd be so bad with 1 vegging plant but it's definitely noticeable.

I may never do a true perpetual harvest but I did want to try my hand at cloning. I figure a SoG would be pretty fun to try at least once and that seems to be best accomplished with clones.

Trying different strains is very appealing though. When I purchased my seeds I had no idea what I was getting into. Most of the names I was familiar with were either sold out so I just randomly picked some based on Height and Flower time. If and when I do order seeds next time I'll definitely be more picky and research a bit more on good strains to go with. I actually have another 5 seeds left from my initial order so I have a few grows before I start with that.
