Plenty of reading will get you the numbers you're looking for in hydro and soil/soilless.
Both of which have diff PH ranges mainly due to the "medium" in which the plants are grown.
5.8 is THE sweet spot for ALL/MOST macro and micro nutes in Hydro
6.5 in soil/soilless.

I just have an arbitrary date set is all.
May 1st is a good date and easy date to remember as well as count from.
So June 30th would be Bloom day 61 for instance, with May having 31 days.
I've cut them back from 24/0 to 20/4 to expedite them showing sex.
That's really the main benefit of 18/6 ; 19/5 ; 20/4 etc.
They are allowed to "sleep" and get carbs and other nutes moving up and down the root system, because at lights out they no longer eat.
Which is also why we cut/harvest at lights out, because there is less nutes IN the plant and being absorbed, but at lights on they start feeding again.
Anyways, having a dark period also allows them to show sex sooner, versus constant light being on.

im just curious&trying to understand that,so on 24 hr there not gonna show sex?if they never sleep?no, they still show sex regardless right? just takes longer.so in essence,12/12 does show sex sooner,but would grow slower?

Exactly, on 24/0 they WILL show sex at THEIR individual maturity but it will take a little longer versus a lights-out photo period.
12/12 from seed will show sex faster than 18/6 but may not necessarily veg slower.
That would be a strain and pheno dependent situation.
The misconception is that 12/12 is blast off to bloom from the gate, but that isn't true either.
EVERY 12/12 from seed plant goes through their veg stage the first 2 - 4 weeks, again strain and pheno dependent.
More like a 3 week avg in MY experience, THEN bloom kicks in.

ive done it using both methods and numerous light cycles...12/12 it will sex faster of course..but to me seems to take a little longer to really start budding...like its still putting as much energy into vegging and covering the stretch then it is putting energy into budding.also noticed (varies strain to strain) 12/12 takes a little longer to finish because of that.ive got 3 plants right now that have been 12/12 from seed...are about 2 weeks into flower and only have a few hairs here and there...where normally i would already have buds forming at 2 weeks.though im not noticing to much difference in veg between the light cycles as it comes to size...they seem to grow at about the same rate for me...just end up smaller in the end compared to those that i veg for a month or more

1st of the month sounds like a great idea to me. I usually just make some sort of coded memo on my phone or computer calendar so that I can remember when I started.
