I have a solution. It will solve everyone's problems. RIU makes a new section, similar to Tolk-n-Talk, but in the description it clearly states, anything goes, not for the light hearted. And for SEO purposes, simply put a crawl block on that section so it does not show up in searches.. ( If it really matters ).

Problem solved. Now lets all go eat some Bartel Dew Taco's.
Another good idea, a no-holds bar cage match type forum haha. Maybe if people have a forum they can vent their frustrations without worrying about infractions or hurting people's feelings then it will help out the burning in the other sections.

Come to think of it, we need a Bartel Dew Taco stand around here too, I mean us stoners do get the munchies.

The trouble with that logic is that it assumes that the trolls will confine themselves to that forum. They won't. Their aim is to cause turmoil where it is not welcome.

I like the dislike button and it hides the post after so many folks dislike it, that was an epic recomendation!

We know that we aren't going to be able to bash trolls or anyone freely, we aren't that stupid :) but we are hoping for a better punishment system instead of infractions or banishments on respected members without truly punishing the source of all the fighting. Yes, older members and newer members should all folllow the rules, but all of us are human and DO get worked up about things, especially when there are people on here that are very passionate about cannabis and what it does for them. Our older and more respected members feel disrespected when trolls come on here trying to give bad information or trying to get people in an uproar just to see them punished. Does it work? Unfortunately yes, all of us have been sucked in by a troll or two, but I can understand why people get so worked up about these people disrespecting the site they have grown accustomed to and been with more many years?

This thread ended up having quite good arguments and disagreements without any real bashing or insults. Hell, even Rj41 and I were having an "argument" without really bashing each other or trying to put each other down. In the end we are trying to get it so that disagreements and arguments can be handled without becoming an online shouting match that turns into a bashfest and has nothing to do with the original intent of whatever thread it is in. Poplars pointed out that a "troll" came into his thread causing problems and everything and he stood up for his own thread, telling the guy to fuck off and whatever. Be it that might not have been the right way to go about it while staying within the ruls, he ended up getting banned while the troll didn't get anything, what kind of shit is that? If we can't defend our own threads from trolls, how do we expect the bickering to stop?

Trolls have been around and they aren't going to go away, but we can hope to see a system get implemented so that we can slow them down and discourage them in more productive ways such as a dislike button or other ideas members have posted without having to risk ourselves from defending ourselves.

What about labeling people with too many dislikes? Maybe have the text color changed to lets say red as a warning that the post may be BS?

I think the social and growers rep bars, the dislike button, and now this idea are probably the best ideas from this thread. Those seem like things that can eventually be put into place and help out with the trolling and bashing situation. This would help with trolls going from section to section, that way other's know that they've been causing trouble elsewhere.

Problem with the dislike button and ensuing accessories, is that while it takes a while to rep, it doesn't take any effort to dislike. You can do it as soon as your account is made. FAR to easily abused.

Gotta admit that it is impressive when you're trolling causes several 20+ page threads of people discussing it.

Pointless! There are thousands of members. Unless you get thousands of signitures, this wont work. And its a public INTERNET forum. Nothing on the internet is regulated.

I wish you the best in your search for justice

If I did banking on the internet in the 70s before the liberals got ahold of it there would have been something regulated on the internet.

Quite the opposite my friend. Most forums are not PUBLIC or open, in fact they are as private as your local mom and pop shop down the street. They can kick you out for any reason without consequence.

Is it me or did you just throw a bunch of words together in the hopes it would make some sort of sense? Because your statement holds no logic whatsoever, I am now dumber for having read your comment. Thanks and have a nice day.
