Try it..ive read something like that to..but never tried it. I know it has to be an opaque bag but needs to still breathe. So I was watch a plant biology video and the professor claimed that just by covering one leaf in complete darkness will trigger flowering, is this true and will it work for mj? just curious
Wow. I have NEVER heard that. Well, not until now.So I was watch a plant biology video and the professor claimed that just by covering one leaf in complete darkness will trigger flowering, is this true and will it work for mj? just curious
Your professor is a bullshit artist. Saying something hes heard that someone said that... Misinformation. One leaf is not going to "induce flowering" (for the whole plant), we know that. If one leaf gets covered up in nature, maybe by a competing plant, suddendendly your plant can't veg anymore and has to flower. Doesn't make evolutionary sense.
if it was covered by another plant's leaf, it's not full darkness so it probably wouldn't work. i can't say i've ever put a single leaf or branch in a black box or cloth to provide full darkness, but i see how it could work. the plant produces it's flowering hormone when it's dark, so causing a single leaf to produce that same chemical all day, could fool the plant into flowering. my concern would be that it may cause the plant to turn hermie cuz of stress. i was also thinking that when my plants lower leaves stop getting light, they turn yellow and fall off eventually. so perhaps if you were to cover that individual leaf for most of the day, but give it a couple hours to get light to prevent the yellowing, it could have a chance.Your professor is a bullshit artist.
