Each time someone without insurance? Fuck that, you pay when people WITH insurance goes to the ER. Insurance companies are for profit companies after all. They don't just give this money away.
If someone does not pay the E.R. they E.R. has to stay in business and so the raise their rates across the board in order to make up for those that don't pay. Recall that by law they can turn no one away because of an inability to pay.

Richter "We will save on administrative costs of having only a single-payer [that health care providers deal with].We will have uniform rates, which mean all providers will be paid the same rate. This will further save administrative costs."

poor guy doesn't understand the efficiency will go down because of lack of competition. No one has the incentive to lower rates because of lack of competition. Don't like the prices at a restaurant choose another. Can't do that here.
Options matter, force doesn't work.

Same when people shoplift. The company has to get their money back somehow. The price of product A isn't the same at all stores.
Part of the competition process to attract customers, make money, and stay in business.

Hasn't it always been the case where doctors treated the ones who couldn't pay? (Obviously not as well since we know the rich can afford the best doctors.) So why are costs rising so fast and so high? Before health care wasn't managed and manipulated prices were a lot lower.

poor guy doesn't understand that restaurants and hospitals aren't the same thing.

we know that free market principles hold true with the restaurant industry.

the health insurance industry doesn't behave the same way the restaurant industry does.

there's plenty of evidence pointing out the fact that other countries spend less money on health care, yet their populations are healthier than here in the US.

it's not b/c of the extremely efficient system we have. something has to change and it has to change NOW.

Their populations are healthier because of eating habits. The US obesity rate is over 30 compared to Japan being around 3. No wonder they live longer. Of course when you take out homicides there is little difference in that category.
The way Congress allows things like big pharm to exist without the competitive free market is another reason. The cost of medicine is so high here people will travel out of the country to get it.

I think they hype up the ER bills to offset taxes on other income.
For example I needed some antibiotics and I didn't have the $90 my doctor charges for a visit that day so he sent me to the ER. My Bill for antibiotics and the ER Visit was over $3,000
So you see they bloat the costs and use that against taxes and to offset other profits.
They weren't out anywhere near $3,000 trust me.

Come talk to us when your time is almost up, I think you will have a different opinion.
nobody likes to die. but its a fact of life. people live twice as long as 100 years ago. when theyre old and dont work anymore, those that are still working have to pay for them. whether personally, or through tax money that goes to funds for healthcare, or both. and to reply to your comment... id rather die quickly at like 60-80, than slowly have my brain fade away until im 90 and i need someone else to wipe my ass and feed me... oh and someone else has to pay for them to do it. i just dont see the point.
