My experiment

Just for shits and giggles a couple days ago I decided to toss a bean in a cup leave it outside to see what would happen. I checked on it today and my little bean has sprouted. It's a Nirvana seeds Northern Lights auto. I'm gonna let this little experiment run its course and see what happens. I figure it being an auto size shouldn't really be an issue. Not quite sure how growing an auto oitdoor is gonna work out hence the title of this thread.

Nice, I'm gonna keep updates here. This'll be my first outdoor grow.

Get it out of that cup, and into its final grow pot asap. give it atleast 3 gals of soil, and let her ride. you will be impressed with 1 oz or more of smoke

Thanks for the pointers. Should I wait until I've got a sprout, seed just germinated in the soil, to transplat? I'm a bit nervous to move things around now.

so, if your seed cracked, and a tail is showing, go grab your 3 gal pot, and put some fresh soil in it and water it down, drench it. come back an hour later make a dimple (not a hole) in the top soil and place the seed in, tail down, and lightly cover with soil. provide no more water at this point, and let the little guy break on through to the other side.

on a side note, i often leave the grow pots in a shaded area for 2 days so the top soil does not dry out before the seed starts to tap down into the moister under soil. Basically, you can only mess up by putting it in direct sunlight right after you transplant, which would cause the top layer of soil to dry out, dehydrating the seedling. Also, watering with spray mist bottle the first few weeks will keep ur plant from getting beat down by the water

Here's an update of my little plant. Like I said I just threw this seed ( not germinated, just seed ) into a cup with a little warrior just to see how things would go. Today I moved her to a bigger pot and some ocean forrest soil, gave her little water and threw in a little superthrive and put her back in the sun. Pics are from today, day 9 I think

Off to a good start, key to getting more out of your auto's is to not stress them out

I wouldn't put it in it's final pot right off the bat. I would have started off with a smaller pot and worked my way up to the 3gal, that way you can get a really dense root ball going. Roots grow down before growing out. The roots will grow to the bottom than circle the bottom and start filling out slowly, but since it's an auto the veg time isn't as long and you won't get a good root ball. Remember, the bigger you root ball, the bigger you plant can get and you have better uptake of everything.

So this grow went from an outside grow to inside grow after a close call with the landlord. When I moved her in I already had some girls flowering so this one had to go to 12/12, (I know not the right light schedule). She seems to be just fine though. Rather small but I expected that from an auto. I also decided that while I already had one expierment in the works, why not try another. I've read about people growing photoperiods on a 12/12 cycle from seed and having good results so, I threw a bubble cheese in the mix. It's been growing for about a month or so and looks quite healthy. I see no signs of flowering yet, don't know when I will. I can't wait to see how things turn out with this one. Here's some pics of the 2 from today. Of course the bubble cheese is the smaller of the 2
