Theory For More Bud, What Do You Think?

Ballasts were barely even warm... So I gather that this is just a common thing, but nobody does it because it's too much work eh? I'm working on this, I might start a journal too. Keep you guys updated...I really wanna see if I can get 2x the bud.

I don't understand your original concept.
Why would you get twice the harvest from doing the plants at different 12 hour shifts? Harvest from 6 plants is harvest from 6 plants. You will just be using your lights 24 hours a day and doubleing your electric bill.

ur missing the fact that 3 plants under 1 light at a time would be more lumens for each plant....hope that made sense lol im baked

Yes all plants would get direct light, there wouldn't be any plants on the edges, not get getting much light. It's a smart idea, just a lot of work to pull it off.

It is perfect for me, I am taking a year off and I am at home most of the time. No problems there. Its really not much of a hassle moving three plants every twelve hours, they dont weight all that much (5L pots as I said) and their dark spot is just a metre away from my "light spot." I am delighted to have stumbled upon a way to have more bud! I wanted to pass it by you fellow growers since I thought it might have some loophole (the 24hs light is all I can think of as of yet). I thought of it because I am currently moving two plants and leaving the rest in veg because I topped them and I am waiting for them to catch up. But now, instead of flowering them all at the same time, I am going to do this and attempt to harvest 2x what I would have gotten off my 400w.
maybe just invest in another hps for a flower room doing a perpetual grow without the hassle? that's tonnes of work and possibly lead to an accidental dropping if your moving them in out every 12 hrs...huh??? up to you if you want to do it that way, nice theory, and would technically work, but all that work and potential disaster could be avoided... which would give you more time to focus on growing them, not being there slaves! haha great idea though.. is it going to be worth it!

why wouldnt you just flower them all at the same time? or do you have space restraints? maybe your 400w hps wont cover enough canopy space to flower them all?

ive never had a problem with anything like this because i only veg enough to fit into my flower room, that way the timers do all he work :) plus i use a 1000w hps, and it covers my 5'5''X5'5'' grow room very well.

Yield is somewhat related to container size when growing in soil. Your 5L pots are going to be more of a determining factor. 6 plants in 5L pots should fit fine under a 400. If you really want to take full advantage of your idea I recommend bigger pots, at least 3-5 gallon(12-20L), that would be taking full advantage of your plan.

This is a more accurate statement. Harvest would not be double , but larger. Would take up more time and space. more vents , fans , etc.
He wouldn't need more equipment. Just a closet. U don't need to vent during the dark period.

He wants each plant to get more light which this would most definitely achieve, without having to buy more lights. Not trying to be a dick, but if u had read the thread, u would know this without having to ask.

Okay so, bottom line: it would work, but it would be a hassle. No problems. I realize that getting another HPS is probably the smartest way to go about it, but I can't spare the cash to buy one at the time.

Thanks for all the answers, I will be buying bigger pots (I have been looking into this already, can you believe in my area the cheaper pots I found were about 10 bucks each! Unbelievable).

I don't have a reference as to how much a decent yield with a 400w would be...holy grail being 1g/w, that would mean 400 grams. Perhaps I won't be getting 800 grams with this, but if I get 400g dry, I will be a happy man. A very happy man indeed.

0.5gm/w is good for a 400 ...but yes 1/w is awesome! ;)

any container can will work for holding soil( buckets/pails ) shit I used a kitty litter container a few times :-P...just make sure to wash em out first and drill holes in bottom for good drainage! ;)

Here's an idea i cant believe nobody thought of before me. If you set up two small flowering rooms, lets say, divide a walk in closet down the middle and have 3 plants on each side, with a nice sturdy opaque wall in between. you have the 2 rooms relatively ideal, as this is where the money comes in, they would need to be excatly the same and both on an opposite timer. you could try to share things like ventalation and light by moving the fan and bulb from one side of the room to the other, in effect, creating the light dark cycle twice on both sides, or you could just have 2 bulbs on timers.
Bottom line, very costly in terms of time and money, when theoretically it's all exposed to the same amount of light and dark anyway.
I'm pretty baked so I hope that wasn't complete garbage. The longer I typed that for the less sense the idea began to make to me lol.

you mention how easy it will be to just use two rooms. How do plan to keep the rooms light tight when they are on their dark period ?

I suggest you make a name for this tek and post it all over the forums. People will actually do this, you could always just move the light too (if no one has mentioned that yet).

I only have one dark "room," it's actually in the same room as my light, only it's a spot covered by curtains which do not allow light to pass through them, rendering it totally dark.

Unless there is a way to conveniently move the lights, I cannot imagine plugging and unplugging the lights, moving them (they are hot!), ballasts, etc. Luckily, plants do not need to be unplugged, and aren't very hot at all. A name for the technique? Eh, I don't think it's anything too special, but if I am pushed for one, it would have to have "moving plants" in it's name, haha!

the amount of work it would require makes it a useless proposition. Far better (assuming space allows) would be to use a light mover on a rail, or scrog or shorter veg time.
Of course a light mover on a rail would be ideal, it's just that it would take some setting up, while what I am doing requires not much of a setup. If I could, I would definitely do it, but as I said in other posts, I am short of money and cannot afford to do these things. The other things you have mentioned, none of these achieve what I want, which is more bud in the same amount of time. Calling it a "useless proposition" is a bit harsh, in my opinion, but we are all entitled to one, so whatever floats your boat, mate.

The amount of work is what puts people off, but I will be a living testament that this indeed works! And when I can get it clocked in, the things...I don't even want to know what I will do with so much bud. And isn't that a problem we all want to have?

mathieu............dont get me wrong.....i want more bud too but moving pots twice a day is going to be a pain in the ass your going to end up knockin one over ...........your dark room is in the same as light?? these curtains are going to keep out the light? like cant c your hand dark??
