Curing is a process with many different methods, but essentially you want to monitor the moisture content of the buds, if they feel wet, they need more dry time, dump them out in the open air (as little light as possible) until they feel dry. The point of curing is that your letting the Chlorophyll evaporate and dry out of the plant, and allow the moisture content to be consistent throughout the bud. Once the outside dries, it sits in the jar, which draws out the natural oils still inside the bud, which is why you "burp" the jars. I've heard leave the lid off for 30-1hr a day until the moisture is fairly even. You do this for about a week, opening just momentarily to check how moist it is for 1 more week, then you can store it almost indefinitely in a cool dry place.
