Hi Toolage, just stopping by to check things out. Are you going to move the plants to another area for flower? Are you also sticking with the lights you got or do you have something in store for flowering? I see you got quite a few seedlings so I guess they are regular seeds (i.e males and females)

Good luck with it all. Will keep up with your progress bru.

Hey DST nice to see you dropped by. I do plan on making a flowering area but I am going to keep my seedlings as moms and dads. I think I might ditch the CFLs for MH and if I can find the 35w ones and ballasts then I'll use that for veg. In the pic with the 2 bulbs one is Mh and the other is HPS and both of them are 70w but I bought a ballast for each of them. I was looking at the papers that th guy printed off and I see that I might have been able to get a 4200k bulb but it says 840 at the end so I don't know if I can use it or not but its still a 70w one. The HPS light that I got is rated at 1900k. Once I get a inline fan and a few other things I'm going to pretty much slam my 70w HPS light right down to the tops because I can almost get it close to the tops maybe the length of my 45w CFL is when it gets to warm. I'm also thinking of maybe using my 45w CFL still but I had to use 2 of the light sockets that I wired to wire my ballast. I needed the full length of the cords because the plug isn't right there but also I wanted to be able to move the light around if I want to with out having to worry about the length.

My MH light is on a timer of 20/4. I would put it on for 24 because the life that the bulbs can have is 16 months but I plan on replacing it every 6 months but I don't know if I can get away with running my MH light 24/0 unless I can get away with running it 24/0 with a cooltube.

I can't wait to be able to find out the sex of my plants. By the numbers of 50/50 I should get at least 8 females but I read the comments of the strain and some people have gotten almost a 100% female ratio but I am hoping for just 1 good male.

I also found a site that is pertty much a strain library so once I get more strains I might use that site to make some of the ones that are on there. Here's one

Blueberry x Northern Lights = 75% Northern Lights , 25% blueberry.

Any reason why you are going for 24/0? I have never done this, I have heard some advocates of it, but I like to give my plants some dark in veg.

Well I had my CFL on 24/0 because they seem to like the light and seem to grow faster that way and since I can find MH bulbs that weak I'd prefer that over CFLs now maybe once i get a better setup I will run 2 70w MH but have them on a timer so when 1 is off the other is on but also give them a CFL.

my plants seem to have responded well to the MH light that I gave them but we'll have to see how well I can use it. My next buys are going to be an inline fan , dryer exhaust hose and 96% reflective mylar and some silver tape.

Well all here's an update of what my setup looks like with my 70w MH and what my seedlings look like under 12 hours of MH light.

MH light is on 20/4

This grow sounds very interesting,I'm about to start my first grow also due to prices. Can't wait to see how the LED's will play out in flower! I'm using a 150hps and 48watts of t5 for veg.

Actuly I think I'm gonna ditch the LEDs for veg and flowering and use them for cloning. I decided to go with the low wattage HPS and MH for growing. A 70w light can nicely cover a 72 cell cloning tray so that's really good for space wise. As for the heat I can touch and hold the ceramic top of the light socket and its not even remotely warm to the touch so its really awsome. I will do a little test as to how much a single 70w HPS can make a plant yield because I am interested.

hey there, as to your q: personally, i'd get a harvest or 2 under your belt before mucking around with CO2, my 2 cents.

also: since you don't have your grow area sealed off from your living area, you have to worry about your own health too. carbon dioxide poisoning is no fun.

that said, i'm pretty sure there must be a mini co2 generator out there that hooks up to a 1lb propane tank. if there isn't i'm getting on one of my inventor friends' cases.

Yea CO2 isn't gonna be used for a while till I can find a proper tanks and such. But I was only gonna give it a blast of CO2 here and there.

When I get more money I will be buying a inline fan and tubing and hooking up my cool tube so that I can drop the light to almost right onto of the plants.

Screw mylar, it's a nightmare. Get some sturdy panda film. Very reflective, less hot spots than mylar, and it lays flat and clean! Not to mention, it doesn't just make the area reflective, it seals it into it's own room. One stop shop; I fucking love panda film.

What are you going to use for flower? And those plants are going to outgrow those lights very soon that you are using in veg. If you have 12 of them, they are going to take up at least a 4x4 space when everything is transplanted to finish rooting before flowering. If you use smaller 3 gal pots you can probably get 12 or more in a 3x3. I know not all of them will be female, but it may take a while for you to find out unless you clone for sex, and then it will still take a bit, you may have to transplant before you find out! I think I've gotten 16 in a 3x3 with 4gal square pots.

But I'm sure your plants are loving the lights for right now, you'll either have to double up, or get something new, but those lights definitely sound like keepers for young vegging plants. It will most certainly increase the side branching, which is very good.

Sadly that kind of stuff isn't around where I live and ordering online isn't an option. I was thinking abouy using some polly and making a grow space light tight with it and using mylar for reflective stuff.

Well I'm not going much bigger for pot size. 6 inch pots is the biggest I'm going to go with but if I can find square ones I'll use those instead of the round ones. The way I planted my seedlings is that I can get about 1 month of veg then I turn around take the plant out and put soil at the bottom so I can get maybe another month worth of veg time in the 4 inch pots. I know a guy that had a 1 to 2 foot plant in a 4 inch pot. I'll prob just get a 2nd 70w MH light or get 2 35w or 50w MH lights for veg. I plan on doing a SOG clone flowering method with my 70w HPS light. I might buy a 35w MH light and use it with the 70w HPS for flowering. Also for flowering I am planing on doing the SOG DWC style and once things are setup I will keep maybe 1 or 2 plants of each strain that I grow in soil and do the rest of the moms in hydro. Also as for the lighting I can use use the 26w tube florescent light and the other lights that I have to so I'm still covered for veg.

if you live in a town big enough to have a specialty camera shop, try them for the panda film (people build dark rooms with it). mylar IS a comparative PIA.

Sadly no specialty camera shops around here the places that sell cameras are big stores like walmart and such and the closes city from here is 1 to 2 hour drive to there and I don't know if they have a camera place there. I'm not really worried about the mylar making hot spots since I'm not going to be using really powerful lights. I'm gonna stick with my 70w and lower bulbs.

Very nice looking growth so far, 70w seems to be doing you really good. What distance is your bulb from the plants?

It was 18 inches away from the tops but I lowered it to 10 inches from the tops. I also just found out while I was reading the reviews about this strain and a guy says that it loves nitrogen and another guy said that he harvest around 3 ounces each plant and they flowered it at 2 feet tall.

Always good to know more bout it, don't go too much by what others yield from it though as that's very environmentally dependent. As they get a bit older you should be able to get closer long as you have a fan blowing over the tops. I've got my 150w hps at about 6" right now, didn't go any closer than 8" in veg though. Any plans to enclose the tray a bit more to reflect the light back in better?

Not at this time. I might turn that space into a clone area or a flowering area. I haven't completely decided yet.

----- Update -----

Hey all. This update is a non picture I watered my plants with 1/8 strength of 20-20-20 for 1L of water. I also lowered the light a bit more.
