Where is an overall guide to mushrooms? Explaining how everything works, how to grow them and equipment needed an all. I've looked at the sticky on here, just wonderin if there was a more in-depth one, explaining terms and all. +rep and thanks :)

follow the links in the sticky... if you still need help just ask, but everything i could think of to help someone grow shrooms useing various different methods are in that sticky and if not are linked to it... some links to shroomery make you have an account to veiw them, its worth it through.


what terms dont you get?

also its not a bad idea to ask your questions in that thread.. there are a few mushie growers who are subbed to it so when a question is asked they get a notification.

anything and i mean anything you guys want added to the mushie sticky thread or quoted into it, tell me. i'll add it. and i'll put it in first post so it actually gets read...

also if your into bulk there is a bulk grow tek thread in the second post of the sticky. its excellent. (not mine lol)

Here's a list of stuff I would need to do the complete process, am I missing anything?

Brown rice flower
8 Half-pint jars
Vermiculite
Perlite
Clear rubbermaid terrarium thing
Micropore tape
Alcohol lamp
Spore syringe 12cc's (enough for 8 jars?)

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

thermometer
extra fine mist spray bottle
pressure cooker or pot with tight fitting lid (pressure cooker prefered)
foil
polyfill
daylight spectrum floresent light
rubbermaids for incubator (only needed if temps are really cold)


and a 12 cc syringe is enough for 24 jars. 12 if you really feel the need to use to much.

Go ahead, and I went over the sticky and a few others tutorials to put this list together.

What kind of thermometer? I have a therm/hygrometer I use for my weed, would that work? I'll add the extra fine mist spray bottle, and what is they polyfill for? And is the CFL mandatory?

i use the same cheap anolog therm/hyd (not digital wont work in such high rh) as i do for my plants once you get the chamber set up right you wont even need it any more.... the polyfill is optional... i dont like it, but alot of people do it allows for gas exchange in the jars while acting as a filter for contams..

dont need a cfl as long as there is some light maybe from a near by window.. but they will preform better with light than no light.

So an analog thermometer, and an extra fine mist spray bottle.

Extra fine spray mist bottle

What w CFL would do the job, maybe just 1 26w? How long would it have to stay on?

that should do it!


I use a 13 watt daylight spectrum (6500k) for approiximatle 12 hours a day... sometimes i only leave it one for 8-10 hours a day. some light is better than no light. i've never needed anything more than 13 watt light.. but i have used larger light just because they where already available..


also i just use a lighter and an alcohol swab instead of the alcohol lamp, but if you dont mind buying one it makes things alot faster and simpler while innoculating..


might look into building your own glove box as well, i use cardboard box with side cut out and replaced with saran wrap, and two holes for gloves, super cheap and dissposable. make sure you lysol the shit out of the box to make sure its clean.


being as steril as possible will help you a ton.

Is the glove box for innoculating only? If so I can try to be sterile without it, at least the first go around :P And would the light be for the fruiting process? Thanks for your help by the way, very interested in this xD

yeah glove box is just so you have steril enviroment when innoculating the jars... i just lysol the shit out of my bathroom lol.. but ive had much better success with a glove box.

no problem, and there are lots of other mushie growers here also so any time you have a question some one will answer.

light for fruiting yes, dont need light while colonizing

A few items I can't find:

Alcohol lamp (guess it's not really necessary, but was wonderin how much it was just in case)
Extra fine mist spray bottle (do they classify them as this, or is it just a mist bottle?)

Also, can you give me a link to what I would need to plug the CFL into? Like the mogul socket or whatever? Just a cheap one that would run like 2 25w bulbs.

yeah hold on i have a thread i made when i my self was looking for those little light plug things..

ended up getting them at local walmart.

yeah i never could find an alcohol lamp locally (found some online) so originally i used a shot glass with some alcohol in it lit on fire, but BE SOOO CAREFUL, you dont want to spill fire every where in the middle of the process. lol

saw one the other day at a craft store though..


the extra fine spray mister, doesn't have to be extra fine, but i would look pretty hard for one any ways. the bigger the water drops less that stays in the air and more that lands on the mushies.
think they carry extra fine mister bottle on amazon, maybe find the brand name then look at local store for same brand.
