Stopping Mold With Pen Torch

People laugh at me all the time when I bring up the stoping mold with pen torch.
I watched this TV show and tried it. The pen torch torches the mold and stops in right in it's tracks. Dead done no more. it does not burn the stem. Your just torching the mold not the stem. With a small torch it is easy work.

I recomend using in on stem mold. I done it 3 times now and it work great with no spreading.

Laugh all you want. I do not care at this point. I know it works.

trippy but I don't think you're going to stop all the spores that were likely produced from teh stem mold from spreading to the buds...

and if they spread to the buds then what...torch your buds? I don't think so man.... cool idea but meh, not so cool in practice imo.

Pretty sure I will not get all the spores. I have lost bud sure. I just cut them out and lightly torch the stem that has the mold. Before I sprayed with a few things and never stopped the stem mold. The torch stoped it from spreading up the stem and taking out more buds.

The mold I had was not atacking the buds. Just the stems which would then kill the buds.

Not saying run out and try it. But if your at last resort then give it a try. You may be surprised like I was.

ahh I see I haven 't had to deal with mold so I didn't know stem mold was necessarily harder to deal with... good shit.

interesting concept. Im sure we all will have the opportunity to try it.
Hey man give it a try. At times it helps to think outside the box.

Not saying run out and try it. Do all the normal stuff and try it on one branch. After you torched a fried the mold. Then spray with the sprays you like. I see it like killing two birds with one stone. I have torched the branch pretty good. it does nothing to the branch. Infact you can see the mold being fried off. If you hold the torch just right your not even really hitting the branch.

I spray with milk spray. Then I torch right after the spray. My thinking is it will help from blowing mold spores around. Keep your pen torch on low.

I'm hoping beyond hope that I don't have to deal with mold this season. If it pops up, I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks for the info.

Here is some pics from another thread I did at another site. This is a good shot to see what I am talking about. Next time you got some stem mold give it a shot. I promis it has worked for me everytime I see stem mold. See how it baked all the mold out? This spot was tight. But on most stems the flowers are already out of the way. In this case he was able to torch in right next to flowers. He used a lighter torch. I say get a pen torch for you can turn them down and easy to work with. (longer) I will have or should have undate pics anytime now. (week later)

This has worked so well for me. I really wanted to let folks know. For me I just like the feeling of seeing that fuzzy mold being torched off. I spray the area first with milk water mix. I then torch the mold right off the stem. I spray for me thinks it stop spores from being blown around from the torch jet.

I then go back every few days and run a light flame over it just to make sure. Always stops it in in tracks. (well 5 times now I have used this method. All last year)

Another pic came in from another thread. This grower used a long fire place lighter. It looks to be a little dark to me. Pen torch makes fast work of it. Just wanted to post this pic for heads up. I will post some more that come in. If I get any mold this year I will take some good pics as well.

I say stay away from the lighters. But I have not tried it. Just from the look of this pic and the pics in the post above. You can see how hot it got. With a pen torch you can does this without scaring the stem like this.

From another forum on this subject I made.

A week of bad constant rain meant that mold has been appearing everywhere,
but NEVER returned where I had used the torch.
I had to harvest one plant early as it was molding faster than I could remove it but the technique saved another typhoon and stopped it for the now in the rest.
Found that it works well in the rain, you can see the mold burning away but its to wet to harm the plant. In some cases I removed a piece of moldy bud and burnt the area where it had been and this seems to stop it spreading to nearby areas too.

This does work on stem mold. it will stop it from starting. But it does stop it from spreading up the stem.

Another reply to another thread.

For me, it has delayed the progression of the mold by a week on the one plant that shows mold so far, but it has reappeared both up and down on several of the same stems. Had to pull many a little early as the mold was too extensive (I swear it appeared overnight), but am giving several colas the same treatment and hoping for another week to full ripeness. This is only if the mold is in the stem. The buds I've singed have stayed mold-free. Have to say this at least slows the process significantly.

Anyone with stem mold want to give this a try? I will log it pretty good if I get any this year.
