i am going to be using a homemade dwc bucket inside of a rubbermaid growbox. to refill the bucket with nutes and h2o do i just pour them through hydroton and use fill tube to no when to stop?
im sorry im a lil confused. so in all you have 3 containers? the original one, the one you put the plant in during transfer and then the container your moving the plant to?Snickers2771: the extra bucket is important. Phillip J Fry is right because it makes changing nutes a whole lot easier. I have a bad back so I have to be very careful lifting. Are you considering cleaning your tub as well as refilling it with new nutes? I was taught that was just as necessary. I use a home brewing siphon to empty my tub into a more manageable bucket. From there the old nutes can be recycled into your dirt garden if you have one.
I keep an extra tub handy with about three gallons of new nutes to keep my lady's roots wet while I transfer them to the extra tub which becomes their new growing tub. When I get it back into place and I top it off it then I can clean out the former grow tub. I think you'll be surprised how much yuck you'll get out of the former grow tub, especially if you're growing in Hydroton pellets. I hope this helps. HSA
doesnt the bucket the plant is in need to be cleaned anyway though or is that not necessary when usin the reservoir?I prefer to tie a resivoir only bucket to the plant containing bucket, use 2 water farm gromets, 2 - 1/2" barbed connectors, a pice of 1/2 tubing and connect them as close to the bottom of the bucket as possible. This way you can remove the lid of the resivoir bucket and pump the water out, afteral who wants to lift a 3 foot tall plant out weekly for the duration of flowering.....
I use a pump to recirc the water down thru my 6" net pot lid over the hydroton. Honestly there is know way I could think of to lift a plant out of the bucket without destroying it once it gets very big, let alone if you Scrog, impossible. If you keep everything light tight and proper nutrient mix ect. there is no need to "clean" your bucket, taking the plant out will do more harm than good. Its not hard to add a res. bucket and makes everything so much easier imo. I recirc daily when i am doin ph tsting, ect.doesnt the bucket the plant is in need to be cleaned anyway though or is that not necessary when usin the reservoir?
I empty my DIY DWC tubs with a syphon pump from a boat store then I flush with just PH balanced water,, then immediantly empty again with the hand pump.. and then finally add my new Res Solution.. it takes a while, but nothing a beer, doob n some tunes wont fix and I get 99% flawless results - STELTHY
I think a tub would be well suited for that. Buckets are tight to begin with. How many gallons of water do your tub/s hold?
Each res tub is a 10L pet food storage container.. I only fill them to 9L though as I am in a recycling DWC pot/s - STELTHYI empty my DIY DWC tubs with a syphon pump from a boat store then I flush with just PH balanced water,, then immediantly empty again with the hand pump.. and then finally add my new Res Solution.. it takes a while, but nothing a beer, doob n some tunes wont fix and I get 99% flawless results - STELTHY
