It gives me hope too, but I think it speaks more to the fact that marijuana users are becoming more active with internet polls and social networking. Which in itself is AWESOME! I doubt many of the people that voted "No" posted the poll on Forum/Message board sites such as this.
The more we spread the word, the more our message is heard!
Online polls don't usually reflect reality when voting time comes around. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am... Just look at the last vote for legalization in California that failed when a lot of people thought it was a sure thing.

A lot of growers and dealers voted against that law because it was going to cut into their profits. Also, I think the law would have set it up so only state sanctioned corporations could grow and distribute. It wasn't a good law.
The only problem I see with decriminalization is that it would still be illegal to buy/sell. If it's still illegal to buy/sell, then the cartels are still in business(the marijuana business that is). Also the government wouldn't be gaining any tax revenue except income taxes from the people they didn't throw in a cage.
