Now for res temps.. My temps are at a constant 80-83 when lights are on.. The roots are BRIGHT white, and have the perfect fresh cut potatoes smell(never had a problem with diseases, maybe something in AN). So I would say the res temps are not the cause either.

Whoa. I have to comment on this. You're saying you grow safely with res temps at a constant 80-83? Or are you talking air temp?

And if you are saying res temps at 80-83, you've had no problem and AN is your nute?

does AN have problems with high res temps? also i hate posting negative stuff but some of my roots are gettining darker and a couple more or less fell off. The res is staying healthy and doing a change tomorrow, will probably be waiting on tea for a week! should i keep my ppms down cause of the lack of roots, or just or raise them as the green half grows lol?

hmm well thats how she be, you can see the clearly darker roots and some white roots. im tempted to remove the darker roots should I? Also it looks like there is actually less roots then before. just thought i'd post a quick update. so just keep on going as i have been until tea arrives then let it drink that up?

almost forgot for a moment, seems like i have enough D.O.? and should i raise my lights, i have heard of plants getting too bushy haha?

All nutes have problems with hi-res temps.

i think that dude who said his res temps are at a constant 80-83 is reading his temp wrong. No way you can have water that hot and experience no problems.

good. Keep your water cold. You'll have far fewer problems that way.

Additives? I know of no additive that's supposed to make it safe for you to grow in 83 degree water. That just doesn't happen.

well checked my shipping, my aquashield and zho is out for delivery. No idea when my ewc will get here so will probably throw in recomended aquashield amount till then

i had a slime problem.. i got soe tetra algae control an add about a drop every 2 gallons an ive been looking good so far.. had to change my res every 5 days.. now im over 2 weeks and little to no slime and havent noticed any effect to plants

hmm a few updates. So changed res added aquashield at max strength, nute added at 230ppm, let run for a day ph went up about a point over night balanced, then went up to 7.5 after work then balanced it back, good new root growth but same old ph mirky res problem.

a closer look, and all of my roots do have new white growth. But the ph rise and merky water tell me i should do another res change tomorrow, that way its been exposed to the aquashield and pythium has less a chance to gain a foothold

Make sure your hands are really clean and lightly touch those roots with your finger tips. Any slime? It doesn't look that way from the photo. If a thin film of slime is coating the inorganic surfaces in the res, but not the roots themselves, it's pretty common. I feel a little slime on my inorganic surfaces. Just so long as you don't have huge, huge clumps. Repeated, frequent res changes can stress the plant too, btw.

What nutes are you using? Forgive me for not reading back in your journal. I'm just a little surprised you're having such slime issues when your environment is so clean. Could it be something you're using? Your water isn't too hot, is it? Puzzling.

Im using lucas formula with general hydroponics, my res temps never ever go above 70, i prefer them at 63-66 now. I almost think it could be brow algae. Also My earth worm castings didn't ship untill yesterday. Would not recomend dirtworks. Im quite certain that the plant will survive lots of new roots today too, but some foam and much more mirky res tomorrow will do a exstensive res cleaning. Bleach, h202, then aquashield. aquashield doesn't seem to be destroying the slime too much, but does give me a roots a big boost.

Oh, okay. That's not too terribly frequent. Try to keep it closer to 7 than 4, tho.

edit:

man, you have your temps frosty. What could it be? Am I the only one bothered by this?

ahh dropped the water bottle while it was frozen cap snapped, but my water doesn't get above 68 without the pump on. i also learned just now how to slant my letters haha. but i mostly post so much of this non sense so i can always go back and check, this is sort of a grow journal haha a unimpressive one though

well i did a mega clean, clean res with bleach ran pump airstones in bleach then rinsed with water ran in water rinsed, put in new water added 200ppm and aquashield. I think it could take more nutes but i think all this flux is fucking with it
