Ive been using acetone to make hash oil and it seems really good. Just like when using isopropyl alcohol. Anyone else do this? Anyone think this is bad idea?

It's not harmful unless you don't dry it out all the way, just like ISO.

Personally, I wouldn't want to smoke hash oil made with acetone.
It's like organic produce-- many will tell you that the small levels of pesticides in traditional produce aren't harmful to humans, but I'd rather not ingest poison, even in small amounts.
I use Everclear or cheap vodka. The Everclear seems to work a bit better, but the vodka does just fine as long as you steep it long enough and have a bit of patience. I use good gin if I'm making green dragon and plan on drinking it rather than evaporating the oil.

Where's the hash making section? I looked but couldn't find it...
I can tell you that we don't even use acetone at my machine shop anymore because of the ppe and special handling required. I don't even want to touch it let alone risk smoking/ingesting it! There must be better alternatives. I use bubble so I can really help out there. Be safe man.

Yeah I realise the health risks when inhaled or on skin as I used to work lots with it but I also know it evaporates to leave nothing. I used to soak my hands in the shit after doing fibreglassing with no gloves on... silly I know but I was young...

ISOpropyl alcohol.. it's the exact same method as well. And I think it even turns into acetone in your system if you don't dry it all the way..

There's a little section called "medicating" that I'd put in, or "cooking with cannabis" would be the closest alternative. I'm moving it over to medicating and leaving a one month trail.

Yes I used this the first time but then realised its cheaper to get acetone. And I do dry it all the way. I put the glass bowl in front of a fan. Hey Void, I noticed you using a painted plate to make your iso hash. You realise that alcohol is probably dissolving some of that paint and its in ya gear.

i use butane...i am open to another method because it takes too long to pack my pipe with trim n small buds/shake and duct tape 2 coffee filters on and run 2 cans through..thenremove filter n tape and clean the garbage out while the butane evaps on pyrex ....i currently run an ounce at a time but i would like to be able to run 5-6 ounces at a time..any ideas?

If you're making hash oil in those quantities, it might be worth it to invest in some bubble hash bags.

They're a bit pricey. Many hydro shops carry them, especially the online ones. Sometimes they're marketed towards folks using them for extracting essential oils from herbs, etc (doesn't work as well as it does for weed though)
Bubble hash oil is very pure. Great stuff. I've smoked it, but never made it.
For the small amounts I occasionally make, everclear or vodka works fine for me. But if I had the urge to make a lot of hash oil, that's what I would do.
But for my money, green dragon is great. Its especially tasty when made with gin. Just fill a mason jar with weed, top it off with good gin, then wait a few weeks.

acetone dries fully no residue this is why myself and others use it for final wipe on a paint gun. i work in autobody and acetone is great for hash oil. your body will expell any little bit left init with no harmful side efects
