Here BOB. For fucks sake.
We the people, you know, the 63% that voted this law in to existence?
If the other 37% doesn't like it, too fucking bad. Majority ruled and it is law.
It's been 3 years and the law still has not been properly implemented. People are getting pissed over the bullshit the state is pulling and there are 2 lawsuits against the state in the works right now.
As Murf says, Next, GenX will be taking over, which you would have no part of because you're obviously a baby boomer. The new gallup poll that showed over 50% of americans are pro legalization just shows it's already happening. The old reefer madness generation is finally dying off. Those old bastards with their unlimited terms in our government are only going to live so much longer, with their seats being filled by a new generation of hopefully more unbiased members.
One way or another things will change, whether it's a fast process or a slow one, but the snow-ball is rolling and it's gotten too big to stop now.
Crash this fucker we shall, wait and see.
That wasn't so hard to figure out now was it Bob?
Ok..I get "WE THE PEOPLE" now, thanks for clarifying what you meant.
I read it as you meant we have a Constitutional Right to grow cannabis..or something to that effect....sorry
And yes, 63% voted for this law. It was also the largest voter turnout in Michigan History. That would defiantly show that the younger crowd got to the polls.
As far as being 3 years, and still not properly implemented. No argument..But California's been 15 yaers and hasn't got it smoothed out. Did you really expect Michigan to smooth things out in 3?
Yes, I am a baby boomer..but when I was young..I was gen x also....and your kids will be the new genx..and so forth..
Yes, I am aware that 50% of Americans favor legalization. But I'm not too sure that they understand what legalization would mean. I think what the really want is decriminalization..which would be the right to have small quantities and smoke it without fear of cops.
If they truly got legalization, they would hate the results. Sure, they would be able to purchase and smoke. But production, taxing and pricing would all be controlled..Like liquer or cigarettes Is that what you think Americans want?.
Deregulation would allow anyone to do anything..grow sell, set prices for what they grow..But it will never happen. Messes with Global economics.
I point out these differences..not to split hairs, but to caution "be careful what you ask for, you may get it"
I also agree about the old bastards with un limited terms. Well the unlimited terms part anyhow. Un limited terms it what allowed them to become old bastards. Term Limits? All for that..takes away the pressure to fold to special interest for re election funding. That would be a huge step.
Yes, things will change. usually slowly. I'd love to see things move quicker too, but I'll take slow steady progress.
Finally, 63% of the voters, voted in a law with very limited scope. MEDICAL use of cannabis. A step in the right direction. They didn't vote in a law offering the opportunity for any Tom Dick and Harry, to get a card for his sore knees, and Grow all the weed he wants.
The law was intended to allow people with "chronic (IE: isn't going to get better) and debilitating (ie: prevents daily functioning interfering with the ability to work, or take care of themselves) use cannabis as a MEDICINE to help them overcome those hurdles.
It wasn't intended to allow care givers to spring up all over the place, grow out max crops, and profit wildly. The law does provide for compensation to those care givers. For the work involved in the cultivation of the product. It assumes responsible action on the care giver part. The law does not provide for care giver wages to be based on "risk" markup, or black market pricing.
