Oh that was so damn painful. It hurt so bad chopping the little tops off my plants.
What you have done is remove its apical dominance, means the main stem is no longer the dominant and top growing tip since it can grow no higher.
and then i continued to remove everything on the two lowest nodes of the plant to allow for good air flow down there.
You left the big fan leaves though yer?
So i guess its wait another 1 1/2 to 2 weeks and then switch.
Sounds about right and what i do but i flower short, either way your gona get bud. In the mean time you can pin back or loosely tie any branches that outgrow the others if your aiming for a nice flat top to the plant with equal sized buds. Consider that if one grows 20cm taller than the rest the lower buds will be 20cm futher from the light and recieve less than the top bud 20cm above them. That said dont snap any of the branches in the process.
Also futher to this your plant will still remain apical dominance in one of the remaining branches, the apical dominant branch will grow the fastest and biggest bud and there is normally always one branch that is bigger than the rest when you top, you'll notice it growing faster than the rest or taller. Simply put apical dominance is because growth hormones build up at the growing tip, cut the tip and they build up at the next highest point which recieves the most light too, the fastest and best growing tip builds up the most and is the dominant one over all other branches.
What i wrote dosent mean you have to do squat, just some info for you, try and notice the dominant branch as the plant grows and flowers, i top all my plants and every one has one branch that has bigger buds than the rest allbeit not by much but it is noticable.
Maybe if you can post pics of the topped plants for refernced too dude. Peace
