Well I said I would post a pic of my "bong". She's ugly, but it works.
What happened to the simple bong?

Everything has to evolve. Filtration is key. The more holes the smoke splits through the smoother the hit. The molecules get smaller and are easier to get a bigger rip and not choke. Try a perculated bong and you will believe. It's the science of it..

I'm already a believer just from what I've read / seen so far. Tiny bubbles cool faster than larger ones. Cooler smoke = smoother hit. I get it; I just don't have it yet LOL.
Anyone have a breakdown of what each part does? The Pos / Neg of each and what they are called would be much appreciated. I want to be able to get exactly what I want when the time comes. The better informed I am now; the better the chances of that happening become.

ive got a little 1.5 ft tall glass on glass. no percs or extra chambers. why would i want my pot filtered that much? lol. just amazes me that people can go and blow $500 plus bills on a bong, but they are walking to the head shop cuz they dont have a car. come on. lol.

tried perc bongs and dont like them. call it the hippie in me i guess. wait do hippies own guns? lol.

I have one just like it, been my daily for years...
I finally broke down and bought a bong with glass on glass, diffused downstem, perculator, and ice catcher.
The difference in bong tokes is EPIC!

What is the ice catcher supposed to do? I assume the ice catcher is the indentations in the chamber neck? I know that sounds like a stupid question. I just typically toss a few cubes in the part that holds the water lol. Tell me I haven't been doing it wrong LOL.

That's fine to do as well... It's just most straight bongs if you drop the cube straight in it can break the downstem. The ice catcher simply stops this, also chills the smoke, which is done through ice water in the base too.

i still use a simple bong, 9mm slide, regular downstem, and it still hits like a champ, but i do own a mini bong with a dome perc/ashcatcher/diffused downstem.
