Lava rock or any rock is awesome because you buy it once and just wash them after the grow. Once you got it, you never have to buy anything else except root plugs or pucks.

The 2011 year is coming to an end.
Thanks to all of you that have contributed their pics and knowledge to make this thread what it is.
What to do with the thread? Start a 2012 or continue with this one? Any ideas or suggestions?

I was thinking to start another 2012 version but I just wanted to get you guys input. I am in early flower and won't be harvesting til around February so a new thread will be fine. I'll have flowering scrog pics to contribute.

Above I have added some pics of my Royal-Haze and she has just put out her 1st little Flower's , I will leave her drinking Veg nuits until tomoz.. Then will change to her "new diet".. It's exciting times since buds are not too far away now !!! I have no doubt in my mind that the final little gap on the left of the screen will be filled completly in the next couple of days..

I am also considering leaving the UV-B on for a whole hour at the end of the 12/12 light cycle, the rest of the time the UV-B's input is staged 30 mins on 30 mins off... I have a feeling that keeping it on for an hour at the end should help just that extra bit now the Flowers are on their way !!

I hope ya like the pics... Cant wait to get some 'Bud-Porn' up etc I'am currentley on the prowl for a decent USB-Microscope so I can document the trich development etc...

I am also in limbo as to whether to experiment with UV-Blacklighting as well to gain an 'even fuller spectrum' !!! But it all depends on a bit more research and a powerful..yet cool lamp

New/extra lamps are on the horizon... inc KESSIL Red but for now I can hardly complain, my girl is becoming a lady and her flowers are beautiful , More updates coming soon...

Veg for 52 days. On day 4 of flower. She's been drinking a lot so I got a 5 gal cooler. Been getting water out and in with a hand pump siphon through a little gap when I move the lid back. She got bushy but she's not as big as I wanted. Next time I'll go with about a 10+ week veg if I need to, I'll take clones next time too (I have to stop for a month or two) so the veg time won't seem as long. No shoots through the screen yet. She looks like a bunch of fan leaves but the shoots are in there. Should I shop pushing her down and let her grow though the screen? Should I even use one since I left her so small?

The ideal pH is 5.8 for most grows. Lower or higher pH can cause slower growth and other effects.
Notice the difference between soil and hydro pH levels. Just figured these charts would be helpful in this thread.

I'm scratching my head Ray! Looks healthy but just a little small for the age. More nutes does not equal faster growth or bigger plants but they are not burnt so it's not like your overdoing it with the nutes but it is a little high. I think where you need to put your focus on is in the water and on your roots. Healthy roots equals big healthy plants but it does look like you have plenty of bubbles going into the rez so it's not a lack of that. I was looking thru the past 10 pages of the thread and noticed you have had some changes in root color and structure. get the roots healthy and the rest will fall into place. I see you got a good cooler you won't regret that. Now you should get yourself a mini pvc float valve for like $10-15 from USPlastics.com They save alot of time and headache on watering and adding nutes and with the fresh water always coming in it seems to help keep the rez cleaner. Just install it and hook it up to an exterior rez and it works like a champ. If you wanna pull some clones and you know it's a female then you may wanna pull some soon and get them started. Just a suggestion. I have faith in you so don't get discouraged. I'm not knocking you just trying to help ya! I see your temps are 72 but what are you low temps? If the temps get to low then it slows growth as well. I try to keep it no more than about a 10-15 degree difference between lights on and off.

Thanks Blu. My roots have a large root ball about 3in. from the bottom of the net pot. Any color with them is from my StriveAlive nutes (it's jet black), and GreenHouse says 'The Church' is a slow grower but a heavy feeder. I have 4 more female Church seeds so I will start from seed next time too and then clone....I have to stop for a little bit cause all my time will be on my wife and new baby. The night time temps can get down to about 60-65F. The water stays around 65. When I checked her earlier it was 64F (the lights just kicked on) and the water was 65F...love the new cooler.

The float valve, do you use a pump or just set the rez higher than the cooler and let gravity do the job?


She looks like just a bunch of leaves right now.

No pump needed just set it up higher and it will do the job. It is def worth the money IMO.
