All raw veggie and fruit scraps and old soil and root balls. I turn the pile a bit once a fortnight and water it if no rain, and its mainly in shade. I dont use lawn clippings.

Here's my little compost bin in the sky.....(it's actually a cushion box.) I have drilled holes all round it and I have a pipe running through the middle. I can attached an air pump and pump air into the middle (saves me turning it as much).
Any kitchen veg waste, all my garden waste from my greenhouse, egg shells, used tea, etc, I also throw some mycorrhizae in there, as well as some worms that I collect from the local park. Recently I have not been changing my substrate and just adding compost to the top and planting the new clones in the old substrate, however I normally just empty and recycle everything from my harvest (except branches and twigs for fear of raising the compost PH too much).
I get my mycorrhizae from B.A.C and also use their alfaalfa based organic nute to top up when I am in flower.

I do it because I live in an apartment and it saves me lugging and renewing my substrate everytime, plus I like an organic smoke. Some people I know throw everything away and buy new coco/soil every grow It just feels good doing it this way.

I compost animals I pick up for my rendering business and compost them using manure from my farm.

In the mix there's deer and cow carcasses along with cow, horse, sheep, goat, and chicken manure.

whoa man. that's gotta be one smelly compost heap. not that i have any plans on using animals myself, but how long does a carcass take to really break down into something usable? interesting stuff.

The smell's really not that bad as long as you keep a nice amount of manure over the carcasses.

An entire deer can break down in 2 week and the compost is useable within 6 months.

Since I'm using manure I'm already a couple steps ahead of normal composting.

sounds good! is there a reason you dont use lawn clippings?

thats a pretty bad ass lil setup you have going! does the pump actually help?

do you go out and find the carcasses or do you have like a hook up on dead animals =0 lol

I'm contracted through the State to pick up deer that are killed on the road in certain counties.

I get emails with the exact location so there's never any searching.

wow pretty cool! i guess i kind of do this at my local jamba juice, i pick up all the fruit peelings from them!

deer though thats legit!

what do you guys think about composting lemons?

my gf is on this lemonade diet all month and i have a million lemmon peelings!

dont want to get too acid but i think itll be good so i wont have to worry about ph'ing so much

any input?

i put 4 in the blender lastnight and put it in lastnight

the wigglers arent complaining about them yet

same here i got a bunch of worms on ebay and their lovin it!

i collect tea leaves (smell great) from a local tea house, coffee grinds, manures, squirrels.....lol....(don't mess with my plum tomatoes), mushroom compost, straw. all free from craigslist. the green tub is my main worm ranch. over 50 lbs of castings last year.

i toss mine in a blender and then into the bin some things i will throw in whole or break down pretty good

if you ever compost an onion make sure you blend it or else you might pass out from the smell!

Here's a little tip for you all.
I noticed that some people specifically add mycorrhizae cultures to their compost in addition to worm castings and worms themselves and that is all fine and dandy but...

...Worm castings and well the worms themselves will inoculate your compost heaps with all the mycorrhizae you'll need. So if you are adding worms or their castings into your heap, then it really is a waste of money to add any cultures.
