long john silver is an amazing autoflowering outdoor strain.
I know this post was a over a year ago (then again, how often does the outdoor season come around?), but I am really interested in your experiences with Long John Silver. From the link you provided (emphasis mine):
From Seedfinder Info said:
...believe it or not this is deciduous herbaceous perennial strain! For those of you that are not that horticulturally aware this means it has the ability to re-emerge after it has died.
Yes the seeds and not so commonly the plant can over winter and re-emerge come the spring, as in this little, or should we say big beauty will auto flower once it is established - if left to be it will set seeds, then these seeds will grow and then these plants will do the same thing so on and so forth ad infinitum!
Those are some pretty big claims that come along with a hefty price of ~$200/10seeds. The price could be justifiable if all the claims are true, but the seed description seems quite vague and possibly misleading (or worse). I've also read that Pukka is associated with "Doggies Nutz," which has been known to sell products at inflated prices. Again, all this is just what I've read, but this is the first time I've seen a comment from someone that has actually grown this strain, so you can imagine my curiosity.
The breeder's description is a little strange to me as it seems to suggest that most of the propagation happens through reseeding (which doesn't seem too special horticultural-wise nor extremely beneficial for sensimilla production). At the same time, however, the description also alludes to a small portion of the plants becoming established as perennials, which is really the part that caught my attention. Can you verify that some of the plants will actually automatically rejuvenate after flowering? I've heard of people doing this indoors with limited success through light manipulation, but I could definitely see the benefit of being able to select a few mothers that would stick around and flower every summer outdoors.
I am really interested in the claims made with this variety, but the price makes me a bit wary, so please let me know what to expect. Is it just an auto-flower strain that you let go to seed or is it something more?
