Exactly. In north america, more people have died from auto accidents than firearms. Irresponsible use of a vehicle is much more deadly than that of a pistol. A lot of people don't really get it, but in military terms, pistols are only used to get yourself to a REAL gun. Think of all the fuckwads who drive drunk or act stupid behind the wheel. Then, think of the people (in Canada, anyway) who can't be criminals and have gone through the footwork and jumped through all the hoops to acquire a license to own a gun. The level of responsibility applied to firearms does not get applied to cars, but it should! The properly licensed people I know (myself included) are incredibly responsible. I'm armed too, have grown up with guns, always respecting them. Only ever loaded them at the range, always stored properly, its a great hobby and part of our culture. Yes we have our own culture, and its not just guns and beer. Or beer and bacon! If people weren't killing people with guns, it would be knives. If not knives, spoons! If there is a will, there is a way. And it doesn't make it "easier". Its way easier to slip a garotte over someone's head, or use petrol, or a long stick sharpened into a spear... No noise, no screams, AND you *get* to be close and personal with your opponent. Guns, spray and pray for the most part, and messy.. with all kinds of forensics after the fact. In the hands of an experienced shooter, they're not going to be irresponsible.
