First attempt at DWC. Advice please!

Ya I started with a cfls long as they are above 5500K you should be good. I then got a 2' 2lamp T5 and for some vegging and I am sold on T5s, now I run a 4ft 2 lamp and 4ft 4lamp. I will upgrade the 2 lamp someday, but I have to slow my vegging now as my flower room is packed.

I think T5 if definitely the way to go. I'm looking to use T5 cool for veg and T5 warm for bloom. I have a question for you cheese... What's the exact lineup of your nutes and additives?

I just vegged under a 4' T5 and let me tell you I am more than thrilled with the results. I plan on using a T5 for veg on every grow from here on out, the light coverage is great because of the way the lights are laid out, working extremely well for topping and LSTing. Plus temps stay really low and you can put the T5 like 2 inches from the tops. Good luck, can't wait to see some solid progress!

Botanicare Sweet (carbs and food for AS/VJ)
AN Voodoo Juice
Botanicare Sweet

Foliar spray Nitrozyme (once week)



Flower:

DynaGro ProteKt
DynaGro Bloom
DynaGro MagPro
Botanicare Aquashield

2nd week flower: AN Big Bud
4th week flower: Gravity

I did CFLs before buying T5s and trust me for lumens per watt it's hard to beat the T5s.

That's whassup man! I really like the fact that it doesn't heat up much. I've been looking into LST too (even though I'm barely two weeks in) because my grow space is limited and I wanna get the most out of my grow. Also thinking about installing a SCROG! :) but I'm getting ahead of myself. Lol

Check out drgeentm's scrog. I really like his setup and work. He has over 2 dwc buckets.

Someguy15 also does a nice scrog but over flood tables.

if you do plan on doing scrog, don't wait too long to put in your screen. My friend's grow was solid but had he put in his screen a few weeks earlier it would have been quicker and better.

That's what I was thinking after posting it actually. I was like I should start now so it won't be difficult to add while it's already progressed... If I find one that fits my budget I'll have it by the weekend along with my nutes

Nice setup WcT. I posted these links in reply to your post in my journal but will repost here to make it easy. I've heard people using foylon instead of mylar because it is much easier to clean and is much more durable. I used flat white paint then tried some refletix I had leftover from an attic redo. The refletix really increased my heat so I am probably gonna remove it and stick with white paint until I get some foylon. Great job so far, subbed and +rep. :joint:Cheers

Unfortunately one if my seedlings... Dare I say it... Died! :( lol but fuck it. Better more than later.
After doing my research i decided to run with Canna Aqua as my nutes. I've read a lot of good and bad things about a Canna but I made my decision. Also I went ahead and purchased a 3.5g bucket with 2 more air stones.

I'm sure some would agree when I say that it looks a little odd.



Any insight as to why it sprouted this way? As I've said before, I can see white hairs on the stem.

The root has gradually pierced through the rw and as of today I can see a second growing. I've been thinking about putting it into the bucket tomorrow finally. If anyone thinks I should wait, I'd appreciate you letting me know.

Those leaves were always the first to die on my plants. People say if you can grow the plant over a foot tall - and still have the leaves from sprouting that your plant is healthy

Hey WCost,

Since you are considering T-5's you should check out this thread on here. LED without LED's. I started using it and I am loving the results I am getting. The thread is long, but it is well worth the read and the research on it. Gonna sub and watch what you do, but figured that I would share.
