600w HPS v.s. 1000w HPS i think 600w hps is better

ok this is what i am trying to figure out. everyone is stuck on the 1000w HPS but the more i look into the 600w HPS it really seems like the better bulb. the 1000W HPS puts off 140,000 lumens and the 600w HPS puts off 90,000 lumens. if you break it down lumens per watt the 600w HPS puts of more lumens per watt. also the 600w HPS is not nearlly as hot as 1000w HPS so it can be placed closer to your crop wich intern means more light your plant can take in. remember the watts per square foot thing is ok but your plant feeds off the lumens not the watts. a 400w hps and a 400w mh will put off the same watts per square foot but not the same lumens. i know alot of people talk about the 1000w can cover a bigger area but i went to my buddies house yesterday who has a 8'x5' aeroponic setup with 50 plants and he use to have a 1000w hps and he got rid of it and got a 600w hps and made a homemade light mover that is nothing more than like a clothes line with a pully on it so he can move the light twice a day and he said he is producing way more bud for his buck with the 600w hps instead of the 1000w hps. just my little thought. would like to hear some input from people and see what everyone else thinks.

no left and right like the sun would do. by moving the light there is really no hotspot and it gives light a chance to get down to the lower buds beacasue light is going into the branches at different angles than if it was just sitting over top.

im sure hes moving his light 2 give all 50 proper amount of lingh. w/ that many id run 2 600wtt hps, so i wouldht have 2 move lights twice daily. but to each there own. we all have r own prefrence

hove i have a 20 inch fan hanging gight at hood blowing the heat across the top of my plants, & i have a 20 inch fan in window for exhaust. temp. at top of plants is 78 deg.

Hey i thought of that myself, does he place his light just little right of centre and then 1/2 way through day put it to just left of centre?? or what positions does he do?? how much extra yield:peace:

dont know exactly the extra yield no he will divide his garden into 3 sections in his head than at the point that one section will meet another he will start the light there than move later in the day to the next point. i do notice the lower buds seem to be thicker.

I have one 600 Hps, inna closet 8x4x2....The plants love it, (5 plants, 9-11inches)so do i...electric bill dropped 50-75 dollars since i changed from the 4ft 4-tube, T5 Light fixture i used to sprout and veg. Heat almost became a factor, but one lil HV fan (high velocity) changed everything hehe..Good luck mang...Go with tha 600w..Best thing i did to my whole opperation.

well i agree that the 600 hps is the shit but im going to get the dual bulb relfector and 1000watt dual ballast called the sun system 7. it runs a 400wmh and a600whps at the same time on one ballast=130000 lumens. during veg i will have them on the mh on a 4ft light track from hydro farm. with 600 hps on a timer to get some good afternoon heat and spectrums and then use both lights to bud with when plants are about a foot and a half.. about 4 weeks before i harvst i will turn mh off. good growing every one. p.s the light trackworks great you just gotta watch your head sometimes. they also have 800 watt ballast for 2 400 watt bulbs

i think if you grow plants that finish taller than 24" then you need 1000w.
its the the extra penetration...

yeah 1000 watt light is great/ now that im getting 2 use 1000 watts in my grow room i will have 1 400watt hortilux blue and a 600 hortilux super hps = 117,000 lumins in i a grozilla reflector on a 4 ft light track . 600 watts can alwo you 2 have more reflectors or 1200 watt fixtures i think boths bulbs are great it just depends on your growing situation.
